アラジンやアリババなど、アラビアンナイト（千夜一夜物語）の登場人物をモデルに、お伽話の枠を越え綿密な世界観で描かれる大人気少年漫画です。
今回は、そんな人気漫画「マギ」に登場する、エキゾチックな魅力たっぷりのシャルルカンのコスプレをしている、麗華さんにインタビューをさせていただきました。

Interview of Ms Reika
Magi, which is currently being serialised in Shuukan Shounen Sunday and was made into a TV anime since October 7 2012.
It is a very popular shounen manga drawn with a detailed world view that crosses over the frame of fairy tales, with Arabian Nights (1001 Nights) characters like Aladdin and Ali Baba as models.
This time, I have the honour of interviewing Ms Reika, who is doing a cosplay of Sharrkan, a character full of exotic charm from that popular manga "Magi".

Since the beginning of this year, I have made myself 16 different costumes. Even with the same character, I wear different kinds of costumes, so if you look at the photos, you may think I have made more.

友人に勧められて読み始めました。
王道少年漫画ということで、何よりも漫画の面白さに惹かれて。
シンドバッドが出てくる頃にはかなり夢中になって読み進めていました。
新しく登場するキャラクターがどれも魅力的で、ぐいぐい引き寄せられましたね。
そんなわけで、当初は漫画が面白くて、萌える！とは思ってなかったのですが。
シンドリア編でシャルルカンが出て来た時に、運命の人が出て来た！と思いました(笑)
－シンドリア王国の八人将が登場するあたりですね！

I started reading it on a friend's recommendation. I was drawn into this odo shōnen manga. By the time Sinbad appeared, I had been totally absorbed.
Every new character was so attractive that I was pulled into the story.
So at first the manga was so fascinating that I was completely hooked.
When Sharrkan appeared in the Sindria episode, I thought this was my fate! Hahaha.
Q: That's when the eight generals of Sindria show up!

How did you become interested in Magi?
I began to read it through the recommendation of a friend. As one of the best teenager comics, I found the comic quite interesting. By the time Sindibaad came out I really start to become attracted to this comic and continued reading it.
Moreover I found the new characters appear in the comics charming and fits the story well. However I did not became hooked to this comic at first glance. It wasn't until Sindibaad came out in the Shindoria chapter that I thought he is my prince charming (laugh).
-It was about the time when the 8 generals of Shindoria appeared!

シャルルカン初登場の時から、『この金髪の子が気になる。』と思っていました。
容姿が好みなこともあったのですが、物語が進んでいくうちに性格にも惹かれて。
『大好きだ！』と思うようになっていました。
剣士だけど、女好きでちょっと軽い。でもすごく強い。
そんなキャラクターに弱いんです（笑）。
－シャルルカンは、麗華さんの好みの人だったんですね！

容姿も性格も大好き！と思って、気づくとシャルルカンの衣装を作り始めていました。

I became interested of Syarurukan by his first appearance. Partly because I thought he was handsome, but as the story progresses I also became attracted to his character. Eventually I told myself "I just love this guy!" He is a swordsman, a little bit flirty but he is really strong.To be honest, I just can't resist this character type (laughs).
- I see that Syarurukan is one of your favourite characters!

－すごく細かい作りの衣装に見えますが、制作期間はどのくらいですか？
最初は撮影のスケジュールに合わせて衣装を作ったこともあり、
70％位の完成度で着る事になってしまいました。制作日数は一日でした。
その後、色々手直しをしたので、全部で二日間くらいになります。
－一番工夫したポイントはどこでしょうか？
上着の形です。漫画独特のふわっとしているけど形はしっかりしている。と言う感じを出すのが大変でした。
柔らかな雰囲気だけを再現しようとすると、思い通りにならないので襟に針金を仕込んでいます。

普通に肩から羽織るだけだと、すぐに袖の下まで落ちてしまうんです。
－確かに原作のシャルルカンの衣装は、肩がはだけてるけど脱げてしまうことはないですよね。
金色の前垂れも雰囲気があって素敵です！
この衣装で一番手間をかけた部分です！
合皮の上にライオンボードを貼付けて塗装して、その上から水性ニスをつや出しとして塗っています。ポイントはピカピカ光らせるのではなく、ダメージを表現したことです。
塗装は大きなハケで全体を塗ってから、細い筆で少し汚れた金属っぽく見えるように影を入れています。

The golden apron and the atmosphere too is wonderful!
The part of this costume I have worn is the most troublesome one!
The lion board is painter and pasted on top of the leather, over that I have painted with aqueous varnish polish.But point here is that instead of shiny look it looks damaged.By using big brush I have painted the whole body, and using a small brush I have shadowed it to look like a ish metal.

エスニックで神秘的な肌が印象的なシャルルカンですが、メイクで工夫した点はありますか？
シャルルカンにかぎらず黒塗りすべてに言える事なのですが、そのままの肌に黒いファンデーションを塗っていくと、どうしても汚くなってしまいます。
まずは出来るだけ顔を真っ白にする所から始めるので、それが大変です(笑)
－最初から黒くしていくわけではないんですね！

I can say that all black is not limited to the Charles Kang, but if we apply black foundation as it is to your skin it will give really a messy look.
Since we start to to make face white its a little diffucult job (laughs)

そうですね。まずはキャンバスになる顔を出来るだけ綺麗にして、それから黒いファンデーションを塗っていくと仕上がりが違います。素の顔にいきなり塗るとクマなどがより濃く出てしまうので要注意です。

Yes. First, you have to make clean the face that becomes a canvas as much as possible and then paint it with black foundation and the result will be different. If you will suddenly paint in a natural face, eye bugs will be more darker so you must take note of it.

Is that so? First, clean the face so that it can become a canvass then paint it well with black for a different finish. Be careful in painting the face quickly as it may become thick and look like a bear or so.

元々宝塚が好きなので、男装ならではの美しさを出したいと思っています。
リアルな男性の格好良さだけを追求するよりも、少し派手な方がコスプレっぽいのかなと思っています(笑)。
後は女性のシルエットにならないよう気をつけています。
今回のシャルルカンであれば、首から肩にかけてのラインがポイントだと思っていたので、女性っぽさが出ない程度に気をつけながら、首周りを大きくあけました。
女性同士で撮影する事も多いので、体格差をいかに自然に出すかも重要視していますね。

I have liked Takarazuka from the start, so if it men's clothes I want to bring out their beauty.
More than seeking the coolness of real men, I think a flashy sort of method is more like cosplay (lol).
After, I take care not to have a female silhouette.
For this time's Sharrkan, because I thought the line from the neck to the back was a point, I opened the neckline widely while being careful not to let out any femininity..
Because I am often photographed by females like me, I attach a high importance to how I can naturally bring out the difference in appearance.
