The blanket's deep hues of blue reflect the colors of the sky during a thunderstorm. Thunder, a powerful force of nature, was a common theme in names among the Nez Perce of the Columbia Plateau in Northeastern Oregon and Central Idaho.
The Pendleton Brave Star Blanket design was created to pay tribute to the patriotism of Native American soldiers. The print is a contemporary interpretation of the American flag and marries modern asymmetry and vintage Americana.
Tall rock pinnacles form breathtaking vistas in Utah’s Cayonlands National Park. The blues, pinks and reds of our Canyonlands Blanket reflect this awe-inspiring landscape in an ancient, Native American-inspired pattern that was recently re-discovered at our mill. A modern ombre weave creates rich layers of color that mimic sunlight dancing across the canyon terrain.
This blanket honors the crucial role played by Native Americans during World War II. The Navajo soldiers who were "code talkers" created a unique form of communication, an uncrackable military code, using words from their native tongue.

A number of traditional geometric motifs are artistically interwoven in a multifaceted blanket. The Great Star blanket is a contemporary interpretation of the classic three-banded Navajo rug design that incorporated stars, diamonds, squash blossoms and a host of other motifs. Our modern version is woven in brilliant new colors and combinations unlike the muted earthtones originally obtained from vegetable dyes.
The Pendleton Hacienda blankets mimic the traditional southwestern blanket designs of Navajo Chief blankets. The intricate pattern incorporates the geometric and 90 degree designs that early chief blankets incorporated. The colors incorporated in the Haciend blanket above are turquoise, rust, pale blue, white & tan. Both the Hacienda and Ranch House blankets are un-napped blankets with felt binding on the edges.
In 1923 President Harding and his wife visited the West to dedicate a portion of the Old Oregon Trail. At that ceremony, local Cayuse and Umatilla chiefs presented the First Lady with a Pendleton shawl inspired by the already famous Chief Joseph blanket. This robe from our Heritage Collection is comparable to a twin blanket, the size originally used as a ceremonial robe by Native Americans. It is ideal for foot of bed, draped over a sofa or chair, or hung as unique, historic wall art.
Apache basketry is widely admired for its craftmanship and beauty. In particular, baskets created by the Jicarilla band are noted for their strong color contrast and bold geometric or pictorial motifs.
