I am writing to you to express my sincere interest in Human Cognition and
Behavior Research conducted in the Faculty of Human Develpment at
Kobe University Graduate School of Human Development and Environment.

この度は、神戸大学大学院人間発達環境学研究科で行われている 人間の認知と習性に関する研究* に私が如何に真摯な興味を抱いているかをお伝えしたく筆を取りました。

Human Cognition and Behavior Research の正確な訳が分からず、直訳してしまいました。

My name is Maryia Dazortsava. I currently am a five year student at
State Institute for Administration and Social Technologies of
Belarusian State University in Minsk. I have been conducting research of
burnout syndrome in emploees of communicative specialties.

素直に「世界戦争」が思い浮かびましたね。
Worldが複数形になれば、有名な「宇宙戦争」が思い浮かびますが。

石油や原子力など従来エネルギーを使っている限りは、今以上の文化の高まりは望めない。新しいエネルギーが生まれるところにこそ今までにない文化や社会が開けてくる。大切なのは、私たちが将来どういう生活を夢見るのかということ。原点に帰ってろうそく１本の灯りから考え直してみることだ。

As [long/far] as we (continue to) use the conventional (form of) energy such as oil and nuclear power, we cannot expect any further advancement [in our [culture/cultural standard] / of our civilization].

Where a new form of energy is created is where a new form of culture and society opens up.

CryptoZoo is a new real-world game launched by my Institute for the Future colleagues, in partnership with the American Heart Association. There are games scheduled in San Francisco and New York City this weekend and next weekend, but you can play anywhere, anytime. Game designer Jane McGonigal says, "There’s an after-dark night chase and a daytime chase in both cities.. Night-time is a bit more adventurous, daytime more playful and family friendly." From the game description:

The DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) was a short-lived automobile manufacturer formed by automobile industry executive John DeLorean in 1975. It is remembered for the one model it produced – the distinctive stainless steel DeLorean DMC-12 sports car featuring gull-wing doors – and for its brief and turbulent history, ending in receivership and bankruptcy in 1982. Near the end, in a desperate attempt to raise the funds his company needed to survive, John DeLorean was filmed appearing to accept money to take part in drug trafficking, but was subsequently acquitted of charges brought against him on the basis of entrapment.

DeLorean Motor社（DMC）は1975年に自動車産業界の重役、ジョン・デロリアン氏によって設立された短命の自動車製造会社でした。

The Goodman believe that everyone should learn about organic farming. Children can visit the farm and learn about helpful insects. Their parents can shop in the new Organic Kitchen. This is one of the few kitchens in America that is fully organic. Everything cooked in the kitchen is from organic food. "We want farmers and customers to think organically," Drew says. "If organic food isn't easy to get and isn't good, people aren't going to choose it." By making partners with ordinary farms and selling their organic vegetables in supermarkets, more people are finding out about Earthbound Farm.
With the success of Earthbound Farm, the Goodmans are busier than ever. But Drew and Myra still pick their own lettuce.

グッドマンは、人々は有機農業について学ぶべきだと考える。
子供は農園を訪れ有益な虫について学ぶことができる。
その間に、親は新設したオーガニック・キッチンで買い物ができる。

* キッチンと訳すか厨房と訳すかは好みです。
* organically は有機的という意味以外に、組織的という意味もありますが、恐らくこの場合は有機的のほうだと思います・・・。
* Goodmanは恐らくDrewとMyraの姓名。's'をつけることで、Goodmanという姓名の人間が複数という意味になるので、二人の間柄によって「夫婦」や「一家」と訳すことができます。

For that, the Goodmans made a partnership with Mission Farms and called the new farm, Earthbound Farm. Mission Farms wanted to change into an organic farm, so they asked for Goodmans for help. For three years, the Goodmans taught their new partners how to grow organic vegetables. " One of the things we're most proud of is changing ordinary farmers because of our success with growing organic food," Drew says.

その為、グッドマン夫婦はミッション[・ファームズ/農園]と共同経営提携を結び、新たな農園をアースバウンド[・ファーム/農園]と名付けた。
ミッション農園は有機農業への転向を望んでいたので、彼らはグッドマン夫婦に[助け/助言]を求めた。
それから３年間、グッドマン夫婦は彼らの新しい[パートナー/共同経営者]に有機野菜の栽培の仕方を教えた。

They also began growing different kinds of lettuce. They soon had lots of local restaurants as customers. Just when they thought they had enough customers, their biggest one moved away. That's when they decided to put salads into plastic bags and sell them in supermarkets. The salad bags were a great success. Today these Earthbound Farm salad mixes are sold in nearly 75 percent of America's supermarkets.
By 1989, the Goodmans' small garden was not big enough for all the orders. So they bounght a large farm and grew more organic vegetables. But by 1995, business was so successful that they needed more farmers.

[二人/彼ら]* は色々な種類のレタスも栽培するようになった。
するとすぐに地元の多くのレストランが顧客になった。

しかし1995年頃には、事業は余りの成功を収めてしまい、今度は従業員も必要となった。

*Theyを「二人」と限定して考えるか、「彼ら」と直訳するかは好みです。
*普通に考えれば顧客を失った（離れた）という意味だと思いますが、移転や引っ越しとも解釈できるかと。

Earthbound Farm is one of the largest organic farms in the United States. It started as a work of love for the founders Drew and Myra Goodman. The Goodmans were both raised in New York City. But as each grew older, they became more and more interested in the countryside. "I remember visiting relatives outside of New York and eating tomatoes from the farm. They tasted so delicious. It was also calm and peaceful." After finishing university in California, the couple decided to live there in a small house with a bit of land. "We fixed up the house and then grew organic berries to sell by the roadside, " Myra remembers.

アースバウンド[・ファーム/農園]は、合衆国の中でも最も大きな有機農園の一つだ。
同農園は創始者のドゥリュー・グッドマンさんとマイラ・グッドマンさんの愛の共同事業としてはじまった。
グッドマン夫婦は共にニューヨーク市で育った。しかし成長するにつれて、それぞれが[田舎/地方]（の生活）に興味を惹かれるようになった。
「ニューヨーク郊外の親戚の家[で/に行って]、[採れたたての/畑で採れた]トマトを食べたのを覚えているわ。とても美味しかった。静かで[のんびりもしていた/平和でもあった]わ。」
カリフォルニアの大学を卒業後、[二人/カップル/夫婦]はちょっとした土地付きの小さな家に住むことに決めた。
「私達は家を直してから、道端で売るための有機栽培のベリーを作ったわ。」マイラさんは昔を思い返す。

「契約とは」
契約は、お互いの意思表示の合致によって成立する法律行為です。
「契約書とは」
原則として、口頭でも契約は有効に成立しますが、後日のトラブルを予防するために、契約書という書面に残します。
「契約書」という名称の他にも、「確認書」・「合意書」・「覚書（覚え書き）」・「念書（約束事を記した書面を相手に差し出したもの）」等の名称のものがありますが、その効力に変わりはありません。
「典型契約」
民法では、よくある契約の類型として、次の１３種類の契約を定めており、これらを典型契約（有名契約）といいます。
贈与契約・売買契約・交換契約・消費貸借契約・使用貸借契約・賃貸借契約・雇用契約・請負契約・委任契約・寄託契約・組合契約・和解契約・終身定期金契約
「契約自由の原則」
契約には、「契約自由の原則」というものがあり、典型契約以外の契約も許容しています。
典型契約以外の契約類型を、非典型契約（無名契約）といいます。
「契約の履行」
契約が有効に成立すると、当事者には、契約を守る義務が生じます。
契約が履行されないときには、訴訟手続や強制執行手続によって、強制的な契約の履行を求めることができます。
「公正証書による契約」
公正証書は、法務大臣が任命する公証人が作成する文書です。
強制執行認諾文言（「債務者は、本契約の条件に違反した場合は直ちに強制執行に服する旨認諾した」という文言）がついた公正証書であれば、勝訴判決と同様の効果を持つため、契約違反があったときに裁判をしなくても、直ちに強制執行をして、相手の財産を差し押さえることができます

[Contract]
Contract refers to a legal action that is conclude by the accordance in declaration of each other's intention.
[Contract document]
Generally, a contract can be conclude orally, but in order to avoid troubles in the future, a document called contract document should be put into writing. Other than "contract document", it may also be called "confirmation note", "statement of mutual agreement", "memorandum", or "letters of awareness (i.e. a document noting the promises, which is submitted to the counterpart)", but their effects are the same.
[Nominate Contracts]
In Civil Code, as common types of contracts, there are 13 specific kinds of contracts called the Nominate (Common) contracts, which are as below;
donation contract, trading contract, exchange contract, loan of consumption contract, loan of use contract, lease contract, employment contract, service contract, commission contract, storage contract, partnership contract, compromise contract, and annuity contract.
[Principle of free contract]
The exists a so-called "Principle of free contract" in contracts, which allows contracts other than the Nominate Contracts. All kinds of contracts other than the Nominate Contracts are called Innominate (Uncommon) contracts.
[Execution of Contract]
When the contract effectively comes to conclusion, there are duties for the parties to fulfill their obligations. When the contract has been defaultrf, it is possible to force the execution of contract by logal process 文字数限界、質問の２分求む

軽症・中等症本態性高血圧症患者を対象に，テルミサルタン80 ㎎を１日１回８週間投与し，降圧効果および安全性についてバルサルタン80 ㎎を対照薬としてPROBE 法により比較検討した。
その結果，テルミサルタンおよびバルサルタンは軽症・中等症本態性高血圧症患者に対して良好な降圧効果および安全性を示した。ABPMによる治療期最終投与18～24 時間後の収縮期血圧下降度には，両群間で有意差を認めなかったが，拡張期血圧下降度では，テルミサルタンはバルサルタンに比し有意に優れていた。
テルミサルタンはバルサルタンに比しABPMによる 24 時間，午前，日中の収縮期血圧，拡張期血圧および夜間の拡張期血圧を有意に低下させた。
以上の成績より，テルミサルタン80 ㎎の1 日1 回投与は，血圧が上昇しやすい早朝を含む24 時間にわたり血圧下降を示し，投与18～24 時間後の拡張期血圧下降度においてはバルサルタンより有意に優れていた。

Targetting the light to medium severity essential hypertension patients, 80mg of [telmisartan/micardis] had been administered once a day for 8 weeks, comparing and inspecting the depressor effect and safeness using the PROBE method with valsartan as the [contrast medicine / comparative drug].

As a result, telmisartan and valsartan showed good depressor effect and safeness toward the light to medium severity essential hypertension patients.

With regards to the [contracting phase blood pressure depression rate]* 18 to 24 hours after the final admistration of the treatment period by ABPM, there were no significant difference between the two groups, but with regards to [expanding phase blood pressure depression rate]*, telmisartan was essentially effective in comparison to valsartan.


時間もポイントもなかったので少し雑ですが、悪しからず・・・。

No punishment has ever possessed enough power of deterrence to prevent the commission of crimes. On the contrary, whatever the punishment, once a specific crime has appeared for the first time, its reappearance is more likely than its initial emergence could ever have been.

如何なる罰も犯罪の発生を抑止し得る力を有した事は無い。

それとは逆に、懲罰がどれだけのものであれ、一度新たな（種類の）犯罪が発生すると、その再発率は初犯の発生時よりも遥かに高くなる。
