Despite these successes, SNApps4Kids cofounder Cristen Reat recommends a measured approach. “Just because you buy a device doesn’t mean it’s going to change anything,” she says.

MTV’s 30th Anniversary: Has YouTube Killed the Video Star?

At 12:01 a.m. on August 1, 1981, the words “Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll” were spoken over a montage of the first space shuttle launch. And with that, the cable network MTV was born. Originally accessible by a few thousand people on a northern New Jersey cable system, MTV is now in hundreds of millions of households across the globe.

Over the past 30 years, MTV has evolved from a small cable network that broadcasts broadcasts music videos into a true lifestyle brand that encompasses television, the Internet, the motion picture industry and even comic books.

Fittingly, the first video that aired on MTV in 1981 was Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles. The words were true. Almost overnight, the music video became one of the most important promotional and marketing vehicles for the music industry. Artists that best utilized the new format — Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince and Weird Al Yankovic — became not just stars, but icons. In short, video really did kill the radio star.

I have ordered 1 kilogram of sesame seeds, and received hundreds of small packages of them. Actually the plastic containers had many scratches and don't meet Japanese food regulations, although I'm mostly content with the quality of seeds itself.
By the way, recent average price of Thai sesame in Japan is ＄2/g. Taking this in mind, would you make a profitable quote?
This time I've already distributed the packages to our cuntomers as product samples.When they like it, eventually I'll make another extra order, 3-5kgs next time.

Mobile Net Users Will Surpass PC Users in China By 2013

The landscape of China’s internet is changing fast; perhaps faster than many internet companies are ready for. According to this DCCI report, China’s mobile internet users will surpass the number of PC users as soon as 2013. Note that China already has far more mobile phone users than it does PC users. Even when mobile internet users surpass their PC counterparts in 2013, given the vast number of mobile phone users in the country, China’s mobile internet market still has plenty of room to grow.

Too focused within Korea

Based on his own start-up experience in America, Min knows that Koreans are extremely talented and able to compete with the smartest people in America. But the problem he sees them having their limited thinking. He thinks they think too small by focusing only on Korea. For those that do try to push outside the boundaries of Korea, they will inevitably struggle with scale. He sees language as an additional, natural barrier to Koreans scaling globally.

Korean Start-Ups : Starting the New Wave

“10 years ago, everyone on the street was doing a start-up,” says Sean Park of Seoul Space. Like much of the world, after the tech bubble burst in the early 2000’s, many Korean tech start-ups retreated from the market. But now Korea is experiencing a new resurgence in start-ups.

I recently travelled to Seoul to scope out the start-up eco-system there. I was only there for a few days, I thought that the Korean tech start-up scene was still relatively nascent, but the right elements are starting to form.

To better understand the position of Korean entrepreneurialism and the direction it is heading, I talked with a few locals about their perceptions.

世界の他の地域同様、2000年代初頭にITバブルがはじけてからは、韓国の起業家たちも市場から退却した。いま、韓国では新たな起業ブームの興りがみられている。

私は最近、現地におけるエコシステムの開発について取材するため、ソウルを訪れた。数日のみの滞在であったが、まだ未成熟ではあるものの確かなビジネスの形が形成されつつあるのを感じた。

韓国の起業精神に関して、またこれからの展望についてのより深い理解を得るため、現地の方々数人のお話を聞くことができた。

Conglomerates rule, start-ups are too risky

Korea, an Asian Tiger economy has been one of the most impressive, fastest growing economies since the 1960’s. Hit very hard during the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997, the country experienced a phoenix like rebirth to achieve the world’s 15th highest nominal GDP.

Like its neighbour, Taiwan, much of this explosive growth is due to the industrial manufacturing sector. Interestingly Korea is the leading ship building producer, driven by conglomerates like Hyundai and Daewoo, which are better known for making automobiles. But by far the most well known Korean multi-national is Samsung.
