Japanese businesses and transportation facilities need to offer more free WiFi. We need to offer a larger variety of ethnic experiences and established restaurants, that reflect a country's true culture, not Japan's image of that culture. Japan's pretty great on services and facilities (except that most people have trouble accessing them if they can't speak and read some Japanese, in my experience). Japan lacks in a healthy work life. Either you end up like me, a perpetual contract worker with low pay because you're a foreigner and the company only fully hires Japanese workers, or you end up like my husband, who works endless hours of overtime (which is now affecting his physical health). We've already known people who have "died from overwork" here. That shouldn't even be a thing. We're thinking about leaving, because I don't want that to be my husband, too.

Everything is far and you need to take train for at least 1 hour. Life is expensive. In Tokyo, people are cold. I wish there were more parks. Below 3 years old, getting a place in kindergarden for a kid is really difficult because there are limited seats, so my wife had to stop working. There is no good support for kids (maids or places to put them for a couple of hours) EVEN IN MALLS.

I think Japan is a very technologically advanced country but some ways of thinking are still very traditional. There are some instances of discrimination and racism. Also, Japan doesn't like change. Even if something could be done more efficiently, they choose to do it their traditional way that has worked for them before. They are not very open to new ideas.
