先日、テレビで南イタリアのナポリにある世界遺産ポンペイが放送されていました。
私も数年前にローマから日帰りでポンペイに行ったことがあります。
ナポリからローカル線でポンペイに向かいましたが、南イタリアの5月はとても暑く、その日は日差しがとても強かったのを覚えています。
ポンペイはヴェスヴィオ山の大噴火により一夜にして火山灰に覆いつくされた街として有名です。
遺跡となっても美しい街で、200年以上前の人々の生活が垣間見えました。
神殿、裁判者や集会所、野外劇場や円形闘技場まであります。

Earlier, there was a news on TV about Pompeii in North Italy International Heritage.
I have been there some years ago on a day trip.
I went Pompeii from Napoli by a local line, it was really hot in May in North Italy and I remember the sunshine was so strong.
Pompeii is famous for a town covered with ash over night by Mt. Vesuvius.
It is still a beautiful town even after it became a heritage, I could see life of more than 200 years.
The shrine, the court and a meeting place and outdoor theatre and the amphitheater too.

The other day, the world heritage Pompeii in Naples, southern Italy was being broadcasted on TV.
Few years ago, I have paid a day trip to Pompeii from Rome.
I took a local train from Naples to Pompeii, and I remember the month of May in southern Italy was very hot and the sun was very strong that day.
Pompeii is a famous city which was once covered with volcanic ash overnight by the great eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

火山灰に埋もれたために、壁画や建物の保存状態がとてもよかったというのも、なんとも言えない気持ちです。
一時間くらいしか滞在できなくて、広い街のすべてを見ることはできませんでしたが、また再訪したいと思う場所のひとつでした。
ナポリの町も美しいと聞きます。
街に出てみたかったけど、治安が悪いと有名だったのでそのまま駅からローマに戻りました。

As it was covered with ash, the murals and buildings were in a good condition which make me somewhat difficult feelings.
I had only one hour to stay there, and so I could not see the wide town, but I would like to visit there again.
I hear Naples is a beautiful town too.
Although I wanted to go out to the town, as it was well-known not to be safe, I went back directly from the station to Rome.

I have a mixed feeling about how the preservation condition of those wall paintings and buldings was so good for having been beried under the volcanic ash.
Although I could stay for an hour or so to see the widespread city entirely, it became one of the places that made me want to revisit.
I heard the beauty of the city of Naples, too.
I had to take a train from the station and returned to Rome because it was notorious for its poor public security although I wanted to step out in town.

As it was covered by ash and I couldn't say anything that the preservation condition was good for the wall paintings and buildings.
I couldn't see all of this large town as I only spent about an hour. This is a place where I wish to visit again.
I heard the town of Naples is so beautiful.
I wish I could get around but I was back to Rome by train as I heard the rumour of unsafe for that area at that time.

ポンペイ噴火は2000年ほど前なので200年→2000年に修正、裁判者→裁判所であると解釈して英訳してあります。
