[調査目的]
・かねてよりTA社本店と、JDCとのネットワーク接続が不安定となる課題があった
・本店によるこれまでの確認では、週に1~2回トラフィックの急増が見られたが、それ以外の時間帯も不安定であるとの問合せがあった
・今般、その原因を突き止めるべく、現地で通信テストを行い、異常がないか本店からも監視しチェックする
[やったこと]
1. 通信不具合の詳細について、JDCスタッフへのヒアリング
2. JDC倉庫にあるPCからの通信テスト及びその通信ログの取得
• There was an issue on unstable network connectivity between the head office of TA and the JDC/
• According to the inspection on this issue performed by the head office, there was a considerable increase in the traffic a couple of time in a week, but the it was claimed to be unrelated to the said issue.
• This time, the network connectivity test at site has been performed to find out a root cause while the monitoring the traffic for no abnormality from the head office side
[Action Taken]
1. Hearing inspection from JDC staffs on the unstable network connectivity issue.
2. Communication test and logging of test results using the PC installed at JDC warehouse
・ There was the problem that unstable network connection between head office of TA and JDC.
・ According with the information from head office, they could find rapid incrreasing of network traffic once or twice in a week, and even other times they could find unstable network condition sometimes.
・In order to discover the casue, I will test network on local and check whether there is not abnormality
[What we did]
1. Hearing form JDC staff about the details of the network malfunction.
2. Getting log of the network test from the PC in the JDC warehouse.
3. JDC倉庫のネットワークにエンジニアのPCを接続し、通信テスト及びその通信ログの取得
4. 通信状況を本店から監視し、通信に異常が発生していないか確認
[結果(要約)]
・当初常時通信が不安定との認識であったが、それは特定のスタッフに限定された自称であり、全体に影響を及ぼしているのは週に一度(最近では月に一度)であった
・特定スタッフについては、現象を確認したところPCの不調による原因であることも考えられるため、まずはリプレースにて対応することとした。
4. Monitor the communication from main store and check if trouble occured in communication.
(Result(summary))
At first, it was understood that the communication was always unstable, but it was only what specified staff felt about. What affects all staff was only once a week(once a month recently)
As for specified staff, I checked what happened and found the cause might be attributed to the problem of PC. Then, I decided to replace at first.
4. Monitor the communication test from the head office side to confirm for no abnormality.
[Test Results (Summary)]
• At first, it was believed that there was continuous unstable network connectivity, but it was found out that the complained event was limited to the PC for a particular staff and the adverse effect over the entire staff was experienced once a week before and recently, it became once a month.
• Regarding to the complaint from the particular staff, a failure in the staff’s PC was considered to be the first suspected cause; therefore, it has been replaced.
4. Communication situation will be monitor from head office to confirm no abnormality occured.
[Result(Summary)]
・It was recognized initial constant communication is unstable, but it is limited to self-proclaimed particular staff, it affect the entire staff once a week (recently once a month)
・This phenomenon was confirmed is caused by PC mulfunctions to particular staff, so it was decided to respond with a PC replacement first.
・通信テスト及びそのログの内容から、特に異常な数字は検出されず、帯域幅(2Mbps)相当の通信ができていることを確認した。
・次回異常が発生した際に、都度原因を追究するスキームとし、担当者間でアクションプランを合意した

a)Whenever communication is delayed,users send the following message to Eric.

• The action plan, which would be taken once there was an connectivity issue next time, to find out a case-by-case root cause has been agreed between a person-in-charge of both parties

1. Immediate countermeasure for the particular staff
a) Monitor the performance of PC after replacement
2. Immediate countermeasure for the entire staffs
b) Whenever the connectivity issue is arisen next time, the following observation items shall be informed to Mr. Eric.
• Affected staff: whether the entire staffs or a particular staff
・When an abnormality occurs next time, it has been agreed to make a scheme to pursue the cause and make an action plan between the person in charge.

a) replace the PC and check the condition

a) When the copmmunication becoming slow, user need to inform below content to Mr Eric.
・target user (particular or all user)
・影響範囲(Webブラウジング、Outlook、WMS、KFF、ファイルサーバへのアクセス)
・発生時間帯
b)Ericさんから本店に上記内容を連絡頂く
c)本店側で当該時間帯のログを確認し、大きなトラフィックの発生があったかどうかを確認。
異常が見つかれば、その原因と思われるデバイスと通信内容をEricさんにフィードバックする
d)Ericさんより該当ユーザに連絡頂き、具体的な通信内容を確認し、回避策または再発防止策を検討する(本店も協力する)

c) The main store checkd the log during the time, and checked if a large traffic happened
If the problem is found, the device which is regarded as the cause and contents of the communication are feedbacked to Eric.
d)Eric receives the message from the user and check the contents of communication in detail. After that, evaluate the measure to avoid it or measure to prevent it again(main store also cooperates).
• Time slot of occurrence
b) Mr. Eric will convey the information on the informed observation to the head office.
c) The head office will verify the traffic log during the time slot concerned to confirm a sudden increase of the traffic. If there is, the suspected device causing the issue and the traffic contents will be fed back to Mr. Eric.
d) Upon receiving the said information, Mr. Eric will notify to the staff concerned and verify the specific traffic contents for studying the countermeasure to avoid and/or recurrence of the same issue in cooperation with the head office.
・Occurence time zone
b) Head office received above above content from Eric
c) Head office check the log of the stated time zone to see if there was any occurrence of large traffic. If found any abnormality, the device that causing the problem and the communication content will be feedback to Eric.
d) Corresponding user will contact with Eric to check the details of the communication content, consider the avoidance and recurrence countermeasure ( with the cooperation of Head office)
3) 上記で解決できない場合
・大きなトラフィックの発生がないにも関わらず通信が遅いなど、上記手順で解決できない場合には、
現地にて、通信内容の詳細を記録するツールを導入し、原因追及を行う。
[その他]
1) 特定のユーザにて発生していた問題と解決策は以下の通り。
・Excelが開けない(Read only)となることがある
->他ユーザが開いている時にそうなる
->自分が開いているとなる場合には、一度再起動しましょう
->HQユーザが開いているとなる場合、HQに連絡しましょう
· If problems such as network speed is slow despite there is no occurrence of a large traffic usage, can not be resolved by the above procedures,
we would introduce a local tool to record details of the communication content , and try to ascertain the reason.
[More]
1) Problems and solutions that could occur among some specific users are as follows.
· Excel can not be opened (Read only)
-> Happens when other users try to open
-> If it happens when the owner user opens, try to restart once
-> If it happens when HQ user opens, try to contact HQ
• If the issue such as a delay in the communication without the sudden increase of the traffic volume, etc., cannot be resolved, the further measure to find out the root cause shall be taken by employing, at the site. a tool for logging the traffic details.
[Other concern]
1) The countermeasure taken for the issue of the particular staff
• Sometimes the excel file cannot be revised and remained as the Read only
->It happens when the other staff has been using the file.
->When you open the excel file and it happens, just reactivate the Excel program.
->When it happens while a staff at the head office is using the file, just inform to the head office about.
・If there is slow connection despite no occurence of large traffic, and can not resolve using above procedure,
check the problem by going into local and introduce a tool to record the connection details.
[Other]
1) Problems and solutions that could occur by specific user are as follows.
・Can not opened Excel file (Read only)
-> Occured when other person open the same file.
-> If opened by yourself, try to restart again.
-> If HQ user open the file, please inform the HQ
-> 場合によっては共有ファイルにすることも検討しましょう。
・PDFファイルについて、サムネイルの表示内容と実ファイルが異なる
-> PCを交換して様子を見る
・Excelファイルを開く際に動作が遅い
-> PCを交換して様子を見る
・ネットワークドライブが表示されなくなる
-> ネットワークドライブをマウントするバッチファイルをスタートメニュに登録する
-> または、PCを交換して様子を見る
2) ルータが落ちることがある
-> V社からのメールを送付頂き、本店で確認する。
・PDFs where the contents of the displayed the thumbnail are different to the actual file.
-> Try it on another PC.
・Slow down whenever an Excel file is opened
-> Try it on another PC.
・The network drive is no longer displayed
-> Register the batch file that mounts the network drive on the start menu
-> Or, try it on another PC.
2) The router drops out
-> If you could please forward the email from V, we will check it at the head office.
• While working on the pdf file, the contents of an actually displayed page is different from that of displayed as a thumb nail.
->Monitor a phenomenon after replacing the PC
• It is slow to open an excel fie
->Monitor a phenomenon after replacing the PC
• Loss of displaying the network drive icon display
->Register the batch file for mounting the network drive into the startup menu
->Or, monitor a phenomenon after replacing the PC
• Occasional sudden death of the router
->Inquire to the V Company for verifying at the head office
