本州と異なり、北海道では気候上ストーブなしの越冬は困難であった。１８７６年頃から札幌では薪燃料ストーブの使用が始まり、１８９０年代から石炭を燃料とするストーブが現れた。１９２０年代前半にかけて開拓の奥地化を原因とする薪不足より薪が高騰し、給炭に便利な貯炭式ストーブが国産化されたことも手伝い石炭の利用は急増した。１９３７年の調査では、石炭使用家屋の比率は市部では７０％、郡部では３３％であった。温暖な福岡県でも家庭用の石炭利用は多かったが、これは福岡が石炭産出県であることによる。

Unlike Honshu, the climate in Hokkaido made it difficult to spend the winter without a stove. From around the year 1876, wood-burning stoves began to be used in Sapporo, and in the 1890s, stoves that used charcoal for fuel appeared on the scene. In the first half of the 1920s, the pioneering of the interior areas was the cause for a steep increase in the price of wood-burning logs, rather than a shortage of wood-burning logs. A domestically produced, charcoal-storing stove that made charcoal refueling convenient was also helpful in quickly increasing the use of charcoal. In a 1937 survey, the percentage of households using charcoal was 70% in the city and 33% in rural areas. Even in mild Fukuoka Prefecture, there were many home charcoal users but this is due to Fukuoka being a coal producing prefecture.

ただいま、郵便局から連絡がありました。

3つのケースが考えられるようです。
1.先程のお話させて頂いた関税に関する事です。
しかし、このケースはほとんどないとの事です。
対応している郵便局も今までに事例のないケースのようです。

2.重さの申告が間違えていた可能性です。
しかし、これも郵便局・私両者で確認を取り間違いはありませんでした。

3.言いがかりの可能性。国によってはかかりもしない値段をふっかけられるケースもあるようです。残念ですがシンガポールも同様のケースがあったようです。

Translation

ただいま、郵便局から連絡がありました。
I have just received communication from the post office.

There are three possible scenarios.
1. The issue which I told you about just previously involving a customs related matter.
However such a case hardly ever occurs.
The post office which is handling this apparently has never had such a case happen before.

2. The weight reported was incorrect.
However this was also confirmed by both the post office as well as me that there was no such mistake.

3. Possible suspicious circumstances. Depending on the country, there have been cases where even things that have a low price have been overcharged.
Unfortunately the same cases have apparently been known to occur in Singapore.
