8. This Agreement is personal to you, is nonassignable by you, is governed by the internal laws of the State of California and may be modified or waived only in writing signed by both parties. 制作の順序としては、作家本人によるシミュレータを用いた機能の検証から、部品の選定と基盤の回路設計を経て、専門業者に製造を依頼し制作するという流れになる。機械部品は既製品の購入、3Dプリンタによる造形などを用いる。細かい繰り返し作業などはアルバイトを雇い制作する。
テストを通して、空間に対する音と光の演出効果を確認しつつ、体験方法や設置方法などのディテイルを詰めていく。

Regarding the sequence of production, it starts from the functional verification using the simulator by the author himself or herself and it finally reaches the stem to ask a specialized agency to produce it by way of the choice of the parts and the circuit designing of the board. Regarding the mechanical parts. they will buy existing products or form them by using 3D printer. A part-time worker might be hired for fine repetitive work.
They confirm the production effect of the sound and the light toward the space by way of the test, and meanwhile they finalize the details of the way to experience and to install it.

それぞれのロボットは出力としてモータによる動力、レーザーとソレノイドを装備し、入力として光検出器と衝突検出器を備える。基本的には直進し、障害物に当たると進行方向を変え再び直進する。一定の間隔（例えば2秒毎）でレーザーを照射し、ソレノイドがで床を叩く。レーザー光が検出されると、タイミングをリセットし、直ちにレーザー光とソレノイドが動作し、その時点から再びループを始める。このアルゴリズムによってロボット群は連鎖し、有機的に変化するリズムを生成する。

Each robot is equipped with a power source by a motor, the laser and solenoid as output, and is equipped with a photodetector and a collision detector as input. Basically it goes straight ahead and it changes the travel direction and go straight ahead again when it hits an obstacle. The laser is emitted at a fixed interval (for example, every 2 seconds), and the solenoid hits the floor. When the laser light is detected, the timing is reset and the laser light and the solenoid immediately respond, and the loop is started again from that point. With this algorithm, robots are chained together and they generate a rhythm which changes organically.

このプロジェクトは自然現象を模倣したシステムを作ることによって新たなオーディオ・ヴィジュアル表現を模索しつつ、発展したテクノロジーによって生物と無生物の境界が揺らぐ昨今、ロボットという無機物に生物から抽象したアルゴリズムをプログラムすることで、そこに鑑賞者は生命のようなものを感じうるか、人工物に対する見方は変わりうるのかを問う。

This project is to explore a new audio-visual expressions by creating a system that mimics natural phenomena and meanwhile programming algorithms abstracted from living organisms into the inorganic robots while the boundary between living organisms and inanimate objects is getting vague due to the developed technology, whether the viewer can feel something like a life or whether his or her viewpoints on the artifacts can be changed or not will be questioned.

本作のシステムは従来のものに多く見られる、ひとつの指揮系統から個々の端末が制御される方法とは違い、それぞれの個体が独立して互いにコミュニケーションすることでシステムを構成し、同期現象を発生させる。こういったシステムは群知能と呼ばれ、多くの科学者によって鳥や魚、ミツバチといった群になって行動する動物を観察することで発見・研究されている。

The system of this work is unlike the one where one unique command system controls individual terminals, the system of this work is configured by the independent mutual communication of each individual and the synchronization phenomenon is generated. Such systems are called swarm intelligence, and it has been discovered and studied by observing the animals acting in groups such as birds, fish and bees by a lot of scientists.

Millions of moving robots communicate with each other by using their laser light emitted from themselves, and generate a constantly changing rhythm. Normally, the invisible group of the networks are visualized, coupled with the striking sound that is emitted simultaneously with the light, the generated rhythm is expanded spatially.
