京都駅からご乗車されたお客様は、新幹線にバッグを忘れてしまったようで意気消沈していました。すぐにJRに問い合わせてみたところ、忘れたバッグが終点の博多駅で見つかった、とのこと。絶対に無くなっていると思われていたようで、嬉しさと感激のあまり涙を流されていました。

Would you tell me the incident that your foreign guest got excited the most?
I picked up the guest at Kyoto Station. He/She seemed to have left his/her bag in Shinkansen and was so disappointed. I asked JR officer immediately about it and found out that he found the bag at Hakata Station, the last stop. My guest, who thought the bag had definitely gone, was so happy and moved that tears came into his/her eyes.

日本では家に入る時に靴を脱ぐことは皆さんご存知なのですが、お寺などで靴を脱ぐ際にはどこで脱げばよいかわからないことが多いらしく、先導してご案内するようにしています。
また、道端にごみがなく、どこへ行ってもきれい、日本人は車のクラクションをあまり鳴らさず静かであるとお褒めの言葉も頂戴します。

They know we take off shoes before getting inside of houses but they don't know where theu should take their shoes off at temples, so we lead them.
And they are impressed by the fact that there is no rubbish on the street, and also japanese people don't make car horn.

Please tell me about Japanese things or custom that your guest get surprised?
Most of them know that we take off our shoes before get into houses. But they often wonder where to take off their shoes when they visit temples so I try to lead them around.
They sometimes complement the fact that there are no trashes on the streets, everywhere is clean, and Japanese don't horn so much and drive quietly.

I was surprised by the fact that many of them have difficulty in Japanese food. I think I can make them happy if I can show them various kinds of restaurants such as Italian and Chinese.
