If you make a purchase, new or pre-owned, it can be customized prior to shipping with a one to two day turnaround – consult the chart below for pricing. [Updated]Alibaba to Offer Online Shopping Credit Line for Mobile Purchases

Alibaba confirmed the rumor that it would roll out online shopping credit service, called “Credit Payment”, to users on Taobao and Tmall as soon as in the upcoming April. The service will be provided by Alipay, the payments service under Alibaba Group.

Credit limit, up to 5,000 yuan ($ 800), will be decided with algorithms based on user data, such as ratings given by sellers and purchase history. Interest free periods are up to 38 days. It is reported that 80 million Alipay users are qualified to apply for it.

If you are happy with a consistent, unvarying line with your pen, then most likely you will not have any immediate need for a customization. But if you want to achieve line-width variation, you will most likely be considering a customization to Stub, Italic, or Oblique points, and possibly considering adding flex as well. Other customizations can be as simple as a regrind, to make a broader nib more fine, or, less commonly, a retip, to make a finer nib more broad.

The Namiki Falcon Resin is both a terrific everyday writing pen, as well as an excellent lower-cost introduction to the world of quality fountain pens. Seen above, the Falcon Resin is slightly shorter and lighter in weight than the Metal Falcon version, which also benefits from being able to use Pilot's larger CON-70 Push Converter. Custom Namiki Falcon Resin Fountain Pen modified by John Mottishaw. He ground the nib (14k) extra fine and added flex to it (Spencerian customization). The nib requires medium pressure.
The ink is Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo Night Sky (Greenish Deep Blue) which shades wonderfully on Bristol Board.


This pen is difficult to use properly. Most fountain pens are not designed to achieve the line variation seen here. If line variation is what you want, buy a dip pen. They are cheaper, stronger, and will flex more.
