ホンダは、中型クラス車両用のCVTを新開発し、5日発表の『ステップワゴン』と『ステップワゴン・スパーダ』に搭載した。新開発のCVTは、従来のCVTに対し約5％、同クラスの5ATに対して約10％の燃費向上を実現したという。
新開発のCVTは、高効率電動オイルポンプや高強度ベルト、CVT専用オイルを採用することで伝達効率を上げ、燃費性能を向上させた。
