第1回グッドデザイン賞受賞カメラでありながら、当時のキヤノンの頻繁なモデルチェンジによって僅か7,000台しか製造されておらず、そのうちオリジナルブラックペイントモデルは実に200台以下という総生産数です。これはライカM3オリジナルブラックペイントよりも絶対数が少ないことを意味しているわけで、どこのカメラ店に行ってもまず見ないです。
L1ブラックペイントモデルは一説によると報道関係などのプロ用で、工場受注生産だったそうです。

体としてかなり使い込まれた感があります。シャッター幕はキヤノン独特の症状で若干シワがありますが、それほど汚いわけではなく撮影には全く支障がなく、むしろ使い込まれた個体にしては綺麗だと思います。ファインダー窓は若干ヒビがあります。これもファインダーを覗くと視野が妨げられるものではなく気にならないと思います。二重像合致は問題なく、ピントもしっかり合っています。巻き上げ巻き戻しに関しては問題なくスムーズで、シャッタースピードも変化しています。

It seems it has been used a lot as a body. Although the shutter has a special wrinkle but not so dirty and there is no problem to shoot at all, rather, I think, it is good as a used one. The body looks pretty old but totally usable and even beautiful after a long time usage. Wrinkles on shutter curtain, common defect in CANON cameras, do not affect its function. Cracks on the view finder are also negligible as they don't narrower the view. Double images are exactly overlapped and focus is sharp. Shutter speed is changeable and no stress with winding or rewinding.
