第1回グッドデザイン賞受賞カメラでありながら、当時のキヤノンの頻繁なモデルチェンジによって僅か7,000台しか製造されておらず、そのうちオリジナルブラックペイントモデルは実に200台以下という総生産数です。これはライカM3オリジナルブラックペイントよりも絶対数が少ないことを意味しているわけで、どこのカメラ店に行ってもまず見ないです。
L1ブラックペイントモデルは一説によると報道関係などのプロ用で、工場受注生産だったそうです。

Although it is the 1st Good Design Award-winning camera, only 7,000 units were manufactured due to the frequent model change of Canon at the time. The original black paint model was actually only produced around 200 times or less. According to one article, the L1 black paint model is for professional use such as media relations, it is said that it was factory-order produced.

体としてかなり使い込まれた感があります。シャッター幕はキヤノン独特の症状で若干シワがありますが、それほど汚いわけではなく撮影には全く支障がなく、むしろ使い込まれた個体にしては綺麗だと思います。ファインダー窓は若干ヒビがあります。これもファインダーを覗くと視野が妨げられるものではなく気にならないと思います。二重像合致は問題なく、ピントもしっかり合っています。巻き上げ巻き戻しに関しては問題なくスムーズで、シャッタースピードも変化しています。
The body feels like it was well used. Although the shutter curtain is slightly crinkled due to Canon's unique symptoms, it is not dirty and there is no hindrance to photography at all. I think that the used-look is actually rather beautiful The viewfinder has some cracks. I think that looking through the viewfinder does not hinder the field of view though. There is no problem with double image matching, and the focus is well matched. As for hoisting and rewinding - they are smooth and without problems. The shutter speed is also changeable.
