Can You Measure Happiness? Freehap App Aims to Do So

Wanna be happy? There’s an app for that. Well not exactly, but an app with the ambitious goal of making the world a happier place has just launched: Freehap.

The app, developed in Bangkok by two college buddies from the Faculty of Economics at Thailand’s prestigious Chulalongkorn University, allows users to update their happiness level on a 5-point scale (very happy, happy, so-so, sad, very sad) and broadcast that to other users in their area.

このアプリは、タイの名門・チュラロンコン大学の経済学部の学生2人により開発され、ユーザーは自分の幸福度を5段階（とても幸せ、幸せ、まあまあ、悲しい、とても悲しい）で入力更新し、周りの人々に伝えることができる。

Users can then add “special ones” and be alerted when those people are sad (so they can give them a pick-me-up call or message) and also check the entire country’s happiness level collated with data from Freehap. Right now I see that “Thailand’s happiness level is 58 percent today, up 3 percent from yesterday.”

If one thinks of life and it's challenges, then one might also ask the question of how to meet these many challenges in our life. I feel it is with an innocent mind with that we can cut through every problem we meet in life and still at the end come out unscathed.
For me, one of the symbols of innocence are plum blossoms. In my photographs, their color and fragility stands for innocence, and the rocks stand for challenges in our lives. This I want convey to kids, to stay innocent;  also, in the face of challenges, to overcome them unscarred.

Reality: The CEOs who have not been successful can tell you that a plan without the right execution is just that – an unrealized plan. Steve Jobs deserves the accolades that he gets but much credit also go towards the exceptional folks put in place who worked on aspects including software development, sourcing for manufacturers, etc.

Without execution, a vision is just a dream.
5.You need to fail many times before you succeed

Words often said to encourage those who have not succeeded, or worse, failed previously and continue to do so. CEOs have indeed failed at times along the path to success and proudly show their “battle scars” to the adoring audience, shareholders and business school students.

It has been 1 year since the massive earthquake. When I considered what could be done as a photographer, I found it was to go around the devastated area to record "the present situation" of Kendo players there. Although originally I planed to compose the records into a digital book to deliver global Kendo players, I gave up the idea as it was very difficult for me as an individual to make it a reality. However, a magazine "Kendo Jidai" became interested in my idea and it was introduced in an article of its September issue. Now when it has been 1 year since the earthquake, I visited Kendo players living in Northeast area again to take their current figures. I will upload the records taken last year and this year about the Kendo players on FB every day, which I could not do last year.
