Local Developers Optimistic of Blackberry’s Future

Research In Motion (RIM) is in crisis. Its global sales figures is decreasing and the company experiences a huge loss. Its newest operating system, the BlackBerry 10 which mentioned to be able to save RIM, is postponed until next year. However, RIM is still trying hard to embrace developers, one of the ways is holding BlackBerry 10 Jam, including in Jakarta, last Tuesday.

I had the chance to contact three developers who participated in BlackBerry 10 Jam. The three of them give a good impression about BlackBerry 10, both from the presentation they see and after trying BlackBerry 10 in the BlackBerry Dev Alpha device they received. They are especially impressed with BB 10’s smooth and lag-free multitasking system. The look of BB 10 is also far better than the previous operating system.

Yes, Tencent’s (HKG:0700) market cap is greater than Facebook’s (NASDAQ:FB) right now, with Tencent’s market capitalization currently at HK$419.84 billion – that’s US$66.6 billion – compared to Facebook’s $62.24 billion.

Following the recent news of Bouncity acquisition by Qeon Interactive, former Bouncity CTO and co-founder, Jeffry Anthony approaches us about Bouncity and its future. Anthony is the only co-founder (there are initially four of them) who still remains with the company and joining Qeon as the CTO. Report: Asia Now Has 1 Billion Web Users, And This is What They Do Online

Asia now has more than one billion internet users – or 1.016 billion, to be precise – who amount to 46 percent of the world’s total number of web users. More than half of those are in China. Hit the Road With Sina’s New App for Chinese Drivers

China’s love affair with the car and the open road (traffic jams permitting) has only just begun, and so it’s a good time for local web company Sina (NASDAQ:SINA) to launch its new map-oriented, location-based app for Chinese drivers. Called iMap – but with the literal name ‘Love Cars Maps’ in Chinese – it has just launched for Android and there’s an iPhone version coming soon.
