前回の『突撃レポート!一歩先行くOCR技術』に続き、テクテク取材班からデジタルサイネージの新技術をご紹介します。
今回紹介するデジタルサイネージは2014年6月11日~13日まで幕張メッセで行われていた『デジタルサイネージジャパン』で紹介されていた技術です。

そもそもデジタルサイネージとは
デジタルサイネージとは屋外や店頭などに置かれる液晶ディスプレイなどのこと。
新しい広告の形として知られ、ネットワークと接続することで、情報を配信することが出来、街角や駅などにサイネージを設置し、商品のPRが行われています。
テクテクでもこのサイネージを使った事例を紹介しています。

Digital signage refers to LCD displays placed outdoors and in front of stores.
It is known as a new type of advertisement, and as connected to the network, it can distribute information. It is used to promote products while it is placed on the streets and near stations.
Tech Tech has also featured examples using this signage:

It is an LCD display put on the places of outdoors and shop counters.
It is known as a new type of advertising. By connecting to a network, information can be distributed. Signages are set up on streetcorners and railway stations to made PRs of products.

The digital signage is a large scale LCD display installed at outdoors and a shopfront.
It is known as a new means of advertisement and can deliver information by connecting to a network to advertise items.
Techtech has also introduced an example of the digital signage application.

ガラスケースがディスプレイに
デジタルサイネージが何かを理解していただけた所でご紹介する技術は、今までの液晶ディスプレイをモニターに使うという概念から一歩踏み込んだものです。
どんな技術かというと、透明なガラスのショーケースをタッチパネルのディスプレイ化し、そこに動画や静止画を反映することが出来るようになるというものです。
韓国では既にこのショーケースが導入されており、小売店のドリンク売り場の透明な冷蔵庫のガラスが広告配信の場として使われているそうです。
As you now know what digital signage is, the technology we are discussing here is the one that goes beyond an existing concept that the LCD is used as a monitor.
This technology makes it possible to turn a transparent glass showcase into a touch panel display, showing a video or a still picture.
In South Korea, this showcase has been already used. The transparent glass of the refrigerator at the drink section of a retailer is used as a place for transmitting advertisements.
Now that you understand Digital Signage, we will introduce the technology that goes one step further from the conventional concept of using the LCD display to a monitor.
It is a kind of technology to change a showcase made of transparent glass to the touch panel display, and reflect movies and still images on it.
This showcase system has already been introduced in South Korea. And transparent glass of refrigerator at the drink section of a store is used as a place of advertising delivery.
After we introduce a notion of digital signage to you, we will go to a new technique which will graduate from using liquid crystal displays as a monitor.
This technique uses a transparent glass showcase as a display device with touch-panel function, and enables us to show movies or pictures on it.
This kind of showcase has been already adopted in Korea, and transformed drink sales stores in retails into advertisement area.
Now you find what the disital signage is and we'll introduce a new technology getting one step forward from the concept using the past liquid crystal as miniter.
The technology is that we change a transparent glass showcase into a touch panel display case which reflects motion pictures and stationary ones.
In South Korea they've already introduced this showcase and we hear that they use transparent fredge glasses for drinks of the shops as distribution of advertisements.
他にも専用の冷蔵庫を持つドリンクや、ブランドの小売店などが商品の展示の際にこの技術を使用し、商品の販促につなげています。
イベントの際に街のガラスをジャックし、一面を特定の広告で埋め尽くすプロモーションや、ディスプレイに文字を書けるという点を活かし、オリンピックやマラソンなど、人目に触れる場所で応援メッセージを集めるなど、商用・地域活性のどちらの面でもこの技術を用いたプロモーションが想像できます。
During an event, glass windows on the streets can be filled with a specific advertisement to promote a certain product. Also, we can take advantage of the fact that letters can be written on the display. Thus, we can imagine different kinds of promotion methods using this technology that can be featured at the Olympic Games or a marathon while projecting a message of support on a place that stands out. It can be used for commercially as well as to revise areas.
You can imagine a promotion to jack glasses of the city at the time of events and fill them with a particular advertisement, and a promotion to collect supporting messages in the place exposed to public eyes, such as the Olympics and marathons. This technology is used in both the commercial business and the regional development.
This technique will be useful for both of commercial use and your city activation. For example, it may help you occupy all the glass displays in town with your advertisements. Also, as you can write and paint freely on this display, you can make a message board in crowded events such as Olympic Games or marathon competitions.
美術館の将来が変わる
この技術は販促やプロモーションに採用されていますが、広告以外の分野での発展がいろいろと考えられます。
お話を伺った販売元の申社長は「研究機関の発表の場で、電子配列の模型を中に入れて、その説明を流す時にも使ってもらっています」と広告の枠を超えた使い方を既に実践されているようです。
また、「美術館の展示品のガラスにこの技術を使ってもらえれば、限られた言語以外の説明や、動画での説明も出来ます。美術館の将来が変わりますよ」とさらなる展望についても語っていただきました。
This technology is employed for sales and marketing promotions, but further development in areas other than advertisement could be an opportunity. During the interview, President Shin from the seller company responded, "In a situation where a research instutuition holds a presentation, we have them incorporated to go along with the guidance by adding the electronic array in the model.", and seems to have started practicing the use beyond the boundary of advertisement.
He futher added his future outlook as "If they could incorporate this technology with those glasses at the museum exhibitions, they could offer guidance in other languages than those limited, as well as through the video. It will change the future of the museums."
This technology has been adopted in to marketing or promotion, but the development in the field other than advertising can be considered a lot too.
The president Shin who is a distributor that I interviewed with said "this technology has been used for presentation of research institutions. They put electronic arrangement in a model case and use it while explaining that thing." So, they have apparently practiced that already.
In addition, he also talked about the further outlook and said, "if this technology was used for the glass of the exhibit in the museum, they can explain in more than limited languages or even in video. The future of the museum will change."
日本ではまだ採用実績は無いようですが、この技術がどんな発展を遂げ、プロモーションに影響を及ぼすのかに期待です!
