緑深い境内の石段をゆっくり上り、御仏の待つ金堂を目指します。
石段の両脇に茂るのはシャクナゲ。
開花時期はもちろん、花が咲いてない時期でも画になります。
この石段、武者の鎧の胴当てに似ていることから「よろい坂」と呼ばれているんだとか。
金堂の御仏たち
「よろい坂」を上りきったところに見えるのが金堂。国宝です。
金堂には仏像がずらり。
奥に５体。手前に十二神将。
お寺と言うより仏教美術館さながらの雰囲気です。
釈迦如来さま
中央にいらっしゃるのが釈迦如来さま。

These steps are sometimes called ”Slope of the Armor" （Yoroi-saka) with its similarity to the shape of the armor of the warriors.
