This shift toward online shopping can be credited to the availability of new and varied internet access devices such as mobile and tablet devices. Interesting statistics show that browsing on mobile phones exceeded 40% in Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore. Hong Kong in particular saw 13% of online purchases on mobile phones and 11% on tablets.

With Google’s efforts to also increase Internet accessibility for the emerging markets through products such as Free Zone and Google Trader, it is almost certain that this consumer behaviour of purchasing online will be growing globally, and not just in developed and mature markets.

The study also revealed that 70% of consumers believed that an improved consumer perception of online security has also been a key factor in driving the increase in online shopping activity. More secure online transactions included online payment security features such as Verified by Visa and security around personal and financial information upheld by financial institutions and online merchants.

Attending an event without actually being there

Imagine attending an event without having to be physically present at the venue.

That’s right, Panoplaza of Japan has recently created this possibility with its virtual tour platform specialized for portal websites. This means that clients are able to use panorama contents as a data platform to create attractive websites and applications.

Shanon Inc of Japan has adopted this new platform to be integrated with their marketing platform, which has allowed their visitors to view and download contents in the virtual booth of their exhibition and trade shows.

Panoplaza for Portal has also been integrated with Shanon’s system by using user management and analysis tracking mechanisms. This means that the portal can be easily integrated with clients’ existing CRM and CMS using APIs. Clients can utilize not only their users and contents management mechanism but also realize the access tracking and user analysis from panorama virtual contents.

They have also worked on e-pamphlets together with property agents to enhance the off-site home viewing experience.

Crowdfunding in Japan: Let’s hold an Asian Festival at a Crossroads in Asia - “MYOJOWARAKU in Singapore”

MYOJOWARAKU started in the autumn 2011 as a festival that brings together people working in technology and creative industries from across Asian countries. Through events, it aims to cultivate the minds that helps creating fascinating technology, and to discover and nurture future stars who invigorate Fukuoka, Japan and ultimately Asia as a whole.

MYOJOWARAKU posted its fundraising campaign on CAMPFIRE with an aim to hold an event in Singapore. Why they chose Singapore for their event? That’s because it wants to learn from Singapore about its strategy that stimulates the country to become a hub of all kinds of fields including finance, international commerce, transportation, logistics, information and education, and to make the best of it in MYOJOWARAKU 2014 to be held in Fukuoka.

残念ながらプロジェクトは未達成に終わっているが、このプロジェクトを掲載したことで明星和楽がシンガポールで開催する意思があることが多くの人に伝わったのではないだろうか。プロジェクトが未達成に終わったからといって、その行動に意味がなかったわけではない。

Unfortunately, this project couldn’t reach its goal, but this campaign post definitely made known the organization’s desire to hold an event in Singapore. Although this project fell short of the goal, it doesn’t mean that there was no meaning in the action.

Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix, so called MotoGP, is the premier championship which makes every motorcyclists dream about participating in. Now, a 13-year-old Remy Gardner aspires to becoming a world GP champion in the future. In order to pursue his dream, he left his hometown in Australia to live in Spain where motor sports are very popular. He rode for the Spanish Championship, and has started to make his mark. 



レミー・ガードナー選手を技術的に支援する株式会社モリワキエンジニアリングが、レミー・ガードナー選手の実父で、1987年WGP500の世界チャンピオンワイン・ガードナー氏の依頼を受け、レミー・ガードナー選手を資金面でも援助すべく日本の支援者をCAMPFIREで募集した。

残念ながらプロジェクトは未達成に終わっている。

Wayne Gardner, Remy’s father who is the WGP 500 champion in 1987, asked Moriwaki Engineering which is Remy’s technical support team in Japan, to carry out a fundraising champaign in Japan, and then the company posted a campaign on CAMPFIRE to support Remy financially as well.

This campaign project, however, fell short of its goal unfortunately.

Mobcast acquires online game developer Enter Crews for US$7M

Social gaming platform Mobcast acquires online gaming developer Enter Crews for US$7 million in order to expand into Asia.

On 7th January, social gaming company Mobcast announced its acquisition of online gaming developer, Enter Crews for US$7 million. The acquisition is an all-stock deal that will take effect on 1st February.

The arrangement of the deal will see all common stock exchanged at a rate of 1 (Enter Crews): 11.88 (Mobcast) shares. Preferred stock will be exchanged at 1 (Enter Crews): 41.72 (Mobcast). Mobcast will be issuing 279,404 new shares as part of the deal.

ソーシャルゲームプラットフォームのMobcastが、アジア市場の進出を目指し、オンラインゲームのデベロッパーEnter Crewsを700万ドルで買収。

1月17日、ソーシャルゲームプラットフォームのMobcastが、オンラインゲームデベロッパーのEnter Crewsを700万ドルで買収したことを発表した。この買収はすべて株式によって行われ、2月1日に実施される。

同買収の取り決めでは、Enter Crewsのすべての普通株が1株あたりMobcast株式11.88株と交換され、優先株はEnter Crews1株あたりMobcast株41.72株と交換される。また、同買収の一環として、Mobcastは279,404株の新株券を発行する予定だ。

Enter Crews was founded in September 2009 and has offices in Japan, South Korea and Indonesia. B Dash Fund 1 Investment Limitted Partnership is the primary shareholder of Enter Crews. The game developer has popular titles such as Sangokushi Masters and Browser Ginga Taisen. Their users grew to about 300,000 in Japan and 170,000 in South Korea in just six months. Enter Crews has over 50 employees with about 70 percent of them coming from foreign countries such as South Korea, China, Indonesia, Canada and the United Kingdoms.

With its acquisition of Enter Crews, Mobcast will be looking to continue its expansion plans as mentioned in their 2012 third quarter earnings announcement. According to the company spokesperson, the first focus would be on the South Korean market with the aim of growing it to match its current Japanese market. This will be made more efficient with the acquisition of Enter Crews, as the company has seen rapid growth in South Korea and has software development infrastructure already in place. Mobcast will be pushing its sports games and will also look to eventually expand into the rest of Asia.

Despite being in a same space as larger competitors such as GREE and Mobage, which have passed the US$1 billion revenue mark, mobile platforms such as Mobcast and location-based platform COLOPL are making their mark as platforms to look out for.

Mobcast is a mobile gaming platform listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s Mothers market (“Market of the High-Growth and Emerging Stocks”). The company mainly offers sports titles on its MobApro platform. In its 2012 third quarter report, Mobcast announced that it currently has 2.7 million users as of October 2012. Its revenues has grown from US$23 million in 2011 to US$40 million in 2012.

This innovative app also acts as a self-evaluation app, as you can pinpoint the reasons and motivations for your smoking. It is hoped that by knowing the causes of smoking, you will be able to eradicate the root problem or at least stay away from it.

Quit Pro is currently available for free on iOS, and there are plans to port to Android if this proves successful on Apple’s platform. This app was released on December 19 last year, and in just 17 days, the app saw 5,700 downloads and was used 33,000 times. This proves that it has a very engaged user base. It’s quite impressive for a new app as it now ranks #7 for a “quit smoking” search on the Singapore App Store, #22 in the US and also #7 in France from among more than 250 quit smoking apps. The Facebook page itself has reached 2,250 likes and their demo video has been viewed 5,246 times since it was published on December 26.

Personally, one of the biggest industry disruption over the last few years is the short-term rental space. Pioneered by Airbnb, short-term rental websites which allow homeowners to list their properties for short-term rentals have managed to help homeowners earn extra income and generated thousands of jobs.

個人的に、ここ数年で最大級の革新が起こった業界の1つは不動産短期レンタルサービス業界だと思う。Airbnbによって開拓された不動産の短期レンタルサービスサイトは、家の持ち主が短期的に家や部屋などを賃貸することのできるサービスで、家の持ち主に副収入をもたらしたり、何千という雇用を創出する助けとなった。
