At an ACC level, the minimum standard of skill that must be demonstrated to receive a passing score for planning and goal setting is that the coach adopt goals suggested by the client and/or helps client set goals that are clear on the surface and causally related to achieving the client’s overall objectives and stated agenda. The plans and measures of accomplishment must have a clear purpose and potential to move the client forward in their thinking, learning, or action around the stated agenda and toward the client’s overall measures of success.

Important Note: Familiarity with the code of ethics and its application is required for all levels of coaching and the standard for demonstrating a strong ethical understanding of coaching is similar and rigorous for all levels of ICF credentialing. An applicant will pass this competency if they demonstrate a knowledge of the coaching conversation that is focused on inquiry and exploration and if the conversation is based on present and future issues. An applicant will not pass this competency if the applicant focuses primarily on telling the client what to do or how to do it (consulting mode) or if the conversation is based primarily in the past, particularly the emotional past (therapeutic mode).

We discussed translation needs in Germany and how business ideas could reach the Japanese market. What surprised us the most was the knowledge and enthusiasm of Bavarian students about Japan, as they already knew a lot about the culture, technology and lifestyle there.

We were in Germany at the right time to attend the famous DLD Conference, this time organized by Burda Publishing especially for women. At a luxurious setting of the Nymphenburg castle’s Porcelain Museum, international businesswomen had an excellent opportunity to network and listen to presentations of mainly female professionals in various fields.

Munich is known for its thriving economy, driven by the IT, biotechnology, and publishing sectors. The concept of the event was simple and direct; completely in line with German culture. Companies and individuals had an opportunity to promote themselves and their businesses and look for new opportunities and assistance. Every participant was required to state the purpose of their attendance in a few words, answering the questions “what do you need” and what do you offer”. This eased the exchange of information and after a few presentations (we were excited to see Uber’s Jena Wuu talk about taking their business to Munich, as our team regularly enjoys their transport service in San Francisco, as well as Singapore) the networking session felt like a quick and efficient ping-pong tournament.

Texas, which ranks 42nd among the states in the number of practicing physicians per 100,000 residents, must create approximately 400 new GME positions to reach a 1.1-to-1.0 ratio of first-year residency positions to graduates of the state's medical schools. According to a consensus statement prepared by academic and medical organizations for the state legislature, physicians who complete their GME in Texas are three times as likely as those who do so elsewhere to end up practicing in Texas. In a dramatic swing, the legislature increased state funding for higher education, including an $8.76 million increase in its GME-funding formula and additional sums for brain-injury research and psychiatric services.
