お地蔵様のご利益も併せ持ったスーパー観音様なんですね。

十一面観音はその名の如く、頭の上に１０の顔を持つ仏様。
この１０の顔で全方位を見渡し、一人として見過ごす事無く助けて下さるのだとか。
正面からは見えませんが、ちゃんと背中側を見ている顔もあるそうです。

十一面観音さまの足下に入れるのは一年の限られた特別拝観の日だけ。
普段は本堂から上半身だけを拝めます。
足下に入りたい方は拝観日にご注意を！

It is the super Kannon which has the effect of Jizo statues.
11-face Kannon is literally the Buddha statue which has 10 faces over its head.
These 10 faces can look around every direction and the Kannon helps everyone without fail.
Though we cannot see that from the front side, it has a face looking back properly.
You can go into the beneath of 11-face Kannon statue only the limited days of special visits in year.
Usually, you can visit it only the upper body from the main hall.
If you want to go into the beneath, be aware of the special visiting days!

赤い顔のびんずる尊者は、お酒を飲んでお釈迦様の叱責を受け、本堂の外へ出されたといういきさつがあるそうです。
１０メートル！長谷寺の大観音さま！

長谷寺の本尊がこちらの十一面観音菩薩様。広く観音様として親しまれています。
その大きさ、なんと１０メートル！
口をあんぐり開けて眺めるそのお姿は神々しいの一言！
右手に錫杖、左手に蓮の花を持ったこのスタイルが長谷寺の観音様の特徴なんだそうです
錫杖はお地蔵様の持ち物のひとつで、煩悩を取り智慧（ちえ）を得ることができるとされています。

10 meters! The Great Kannon in Hasedera temple!
The main statue in Hasedera is this 11-face Kannon Bosatsu statue. It is widely popular as a Kannon.
The size is as big as 10 meters!
We can say nothing but divine to see the appearance of observing with its mouth open widely!
Having a crosier in its right hand, and lotus flower on its left, the style is the feature of Kannon in Hasedera.
A crosier is one of the items that Jizo statues have, and is believed to give us the wisdom and reduce us the evil desire.

日本の古典文学、「枕草子」や「源氏物語」、「更級日記」などにも多く登場するので、遥か昔から大人気のお寺だったことが分かります。

こちらが長谷寺への参道。
松のトンネルをくぐって奥へ奥へ。

やがて歴史ある建物が見えてきます。
これが本堂？いえいえ、まだまだここはお寺への入り口にすぎません。

この先に見えて来るのが「登廊（のぼりろう）」。
実に３９９段の階段が本堂へと導いてくれます。
一段一段、ゆっくりと自分の足で登ることで、ありがたみが増すのですね。

This is the entrance path to Hasedara.
Go through the pine tunnel to the back room.
Then you can see the historical building.
Is this the main hall? No, this is still the entrance of the temple.

As many as 399 steps of the stairway leads you to the main hall.
Climbing one step by one by yourself, you can realize the value of the temple.

土佐の小京都と言われる中村は前関白一条教房が京より下向して京に模した街作りをしました。街は碁盤目に広がり京にちなんだ町名があり、戦国時代の戦乱から逃れた街並は京の風情を色濃く反映したまま現代に至っています。

The town is formed in a grid pattern and some areas have the names after Kyoto. The town evacuated from the maelstrom of war in the Sengoku era, remains the taste of Kyoto deeply up to today.

薬師如来の両脇を固める日光菩薩と月光菩薩。
常に対になっていて、薬師如来に対して左右対称のポーズをしています。
菩薩とは、悟りを開くために修行中の身であることを示します。

日光菩薩は、太陽の如く光を照らして苦しみの闇を消すといわれ、月光菩薩は、月の光のようなやさしい慈しみの心で煩悩を消すといわれます。

The Nikko Bosatsu and Gekko Bosatsu, flanking the sides of the Yakushi Nyorai.

如来とは、「真理に到達したもの」つまりは悟りを開いた人のこと。
薬師如来はまたの名を医王如来ともいい、医薬兼備の仏様です。

National Treasures Trio! Introducing the Yakushi 3-great Buddha statues

The statue set in the center of the three is this Yakushi Nyorai.
Nyorai means “the person who achieved at the truth”, which means the person who spiritually enlightened.
Yakushi Nyorai is also known as Io Nyorai, the form of the Buddha statue with medicine.

薬師三尊像が祀られているのはこちらの金堂です。
かつての戦火に焼け落ち、４００年以上仮堂のままの状態だったため、金堂再建は歴代の薬師寺住職たちの悲願だったと言います。

この金堂は1967年からおよそ１０年の歳月をかけて、高田好胤師が全国で１００万巻の写経を集めることで資金を工面し、白鳳時代様式の本格的な金堂として復興しました。


金堂の中に祀られた薬師三尊像。
見るものが思わず息を飲む荘厳な雰囲気です。

薬師三尊とは、仏教における仏像安置の形式の一つ。

It had once burnt off during the war, and remained to be temporary hall for more than 400 years, so the restoration of the golden hall was the desire of the chronological head of the priests.

This golden hall was restored as the authentic designed building of Hakuho era, by Koin Takada raising the funds by collecting 1 million hand-copied sutra books nationwide, taking 10 years from 1967.

薬師寺のある西ノ京は奈良市の西に位置し、この付近には歴史的遺産が多く残されています。


境内に入るとまず目に飛び込むのが、薬師寺のシンボルとも言える国宝の東塔。
一見六重に見えますが、実は三重の塔。
各層に裳階［もこし］と呼ばれる小さい屋根があるためです。
この大小の屋根の重なりが醸し出す律動的な美しさから「凍れる音楽」という愛称で親しまれています。
現在は解体修理のためおおいに覆われています。
次に姿を拝めるのは２０１９年の春だとか。

Nishinokyo, where Yakushiji stands, is located in the west of Nara city, and there are a lot of historical heritages left near there.
At a glance, it appears to be 6-story, but actually is the 3-story pagoda.
That is because there are small roofs called Mokoshi in each story.
It is loved as the name of “Frozen Music", for its rhythmical beauty generated by the combining of big and small roofs.
Currently it is covered with cloth because of disassembly and repair.
Next time you can observe its appearance will be the spring, 2019.

ガジュマルは、熱帯から亜熱帯地方に分布するクワ科の常緑高木で、イチジクの仲間です。

幹から多数の気根を張り巡らせ、奇怪な樹形を織り成し、その景色はジャングルさながら。

The Indian laurels with canopy grow in the area of 100 square meters in the surroundings.
Indian laurel is an evergreen tree of mulberry family which grows in the tropical and subtropical area, and same category of fig.
And it is said Yakushima is the North limit for Indian laurel to grow naturally.
Extending a huge number of aerial roots from the trunk, making eerie shape itself, the scenery is as if it were a jungle.

トローキの滝までは、最寄りの鯛ノ川バス停までバスで行って、少し歩いて見に行く事も出来るのですが、やはり海から間近に見るのがオススメ。

海から見ると屋久島のまた違った景色を楽しむことが出来るのです。

県道77号から少し入った所にある駐車場に車を止めたら、そこからはもうほとんど獣道。

微かな人の踏み跡を１５分程たどると、ガジュマルの群生地にたどり着きます。

Until the Toroki Waterfall, you can take bus to the nearest stop at Tainogawa and walk a little to see, but you should rather observe it with the closest look from the sea.
When seeing from the sea, you can enjoy the different view of Yakushima.
Subtropical jungle cruise! Indian laurel in Sarukawa
Park your car at a parking lot close to Prefectural route 77, you will walk something like animal trail.
15 minutes’ walk through the footpath subtly trod by human, you will arrive at the cluster of Indian laurel. The sign is only this small signboard.

雨が多い屋久島では、霧に煙る姿も珍しくなく、その神秘さがいっそう際立ちます。

ちなみにモッチョムとは屋久島の言葉で女性器のこと。
直接山の名前にしてしまうなんて、とっても大胆ですよね。


そして、その奥に見えるのがトローキの滝。
落差はおよそ６m。干潮時には８mほどになるそうです。

それほど大きな滝ではありませんが、直接海に注ぐ滝というには全国でも珍しいものです。

驚きの透明度！永田いなか浜
およそ１キロ続く花崗岩が砕けた黄色い砂浜と、透き通った青い海。
実は地元では有名なウミガメの産卵場所です。


ウミガメの産卵時期は５月から７月。
多いときで一晩に２０頭もやってくるんだとか。

It consists of the yellow sandy beach with the pieces of granite and clear cerulean colored ocean.
The beach is locally famous for turtle’s laying eggs.
The season for their laying eggs is from May to July.
Sometimes as many as 20 turtles come to lay eggs in one night.

Among the many famous sights for autumn leaves in Aomori, the first place we can conceive is Oirase mountain stream.
Enter from the Aomori city, take an excursion in the Oirase stream, and go through the Lake Towada, Hachimandaira, and Lake Tazawa. Such a travel satisfies you with the autumn leaves.
The best season to see the autumn leaves is the mid October to late October.

Fuji 5 lakes (Kawaguchiko town etc, Yamanashi Prefecture)
The autumn leaves in the Fuji 5 lakes are the famous places you can make a round trip in a day from the metropolitan area. The autumn leaves in Mt. Fuji is the best location.
The best season to see the autumn leaves is the end of October to early November.

Ken Roku En (Kanazawa city, Ishikawa Prefecture)
Ken Roku En is the beautiful place for its seasonal scenery.
