CloudyRec Has App Developers’ Backs, and Backends, in the Cloud

The CloudyRec team, in their pitch here at Startups in Asia, points out that it’s a huge hassle for mobile app developers to power their own back-ends. And so the Singaporean startup has taken it and automated it, giving app devs a cloud-powered engine for push notifications, Facebook support, and all those other mobile backend essentials. Plus it’s “more cost effective way” to manage your app, they say. This paid-for service – similar in scope to the likes of StackMob – frees developers from the constant backend development needed behind the scenes of their apps. Things like finding cloud providers, implementing an API, and then maintaining the whole stack. And that’s before thinking of security and backups. CloudyRec wraps that all up into its single service, supporting apps for iOS, Android, WP7, and Unity3D, with prices starting at US$9.90 per month. The trio of co-founders, Aung, Thet, and Thar, stress in their presentation that only two lines of code need to be added so that an app is ready to be powered by the service. In the live demo, a mock-up app was shown wherein a new user was created, and that then pops up in a flash in the relatively simple CloudyRec.com dashboard for developers.
Just before taking to the stage, the team explained to PO: " The class files generated by CloudyRec are the actual data model classes for the resources defined for your particular app. So in the MVC environment, the app developers will only need to implement views and controllers for their apps.
CloudyRec supports cross-platform native app development. Platforms currently being covered include iOS, Android, WP7 as well as experimental support for PhoneGap. It even has Java and Ruby language support."
