情報検索とは簡単に言えば，検索エンジンのことを指します
検索エンジンは人間の言葉を入力とし，人間が求める文書を出力します
言い換えれば，我々は人間の言葉の専門家であり，その言葉をコンピュータに解釈させる専門家であるとも言えます
我々A会社のメンバーは言葉に対してとても興味があります
皆さんは言葉に対してどの程度興味があるでしょうか
今日は皆さんに言葉の力とその役割についてお話したいと思います。
突然話は変わりますが，何故ほとんどの日本人は英語ができないと思いますか？
Information retrieval simply refers to the search engine.
Search engine inputs human words and outputs documents that required by humans.
In other words, we humans are word specialists and also are specialists to have computers comprehend words.
We are members of A company who are very much interested in words.
I wonder how much you all are interested in words.
I'd like to talk about the power of words and the role to you all today.
By the way, why do you think most Japanese aren't good at English?
理由は様々考えられると思いますが，私が考える大きな理由は
「少なくとも90年代までは経済的に見て，日本人は英語を話す必要がなかったから」です
# 現在は状況は変わっていますが
日本は自国で高い品質の物を作ることができ，そしてそれを国内で消費できました。
つまり製造する人と消費する人のほとんどが同じ国の人でした。
その中で特に品質の高いもの，例えば車や電化製品などは海外へ輸出され，海外で使われています
この「自力で高い品質の物を作ることができる」ということは，とても重要です。
Although there are various reasons which come to mind, the biggest reason which I have thought of is that the Japanese did not think that it was necessary to speak English especially when they had seen how the economy was up till the 90s.
#The situation has already changed now
Japan makes high quality products and consumes them domestically. As such, the people who create and the people who consume are more or less from the same country. Among these, the products which are especially of high quality such as cars and electrical products are exported and used overseas.
This point about being able to make high quality things with one's own power is very important.
何故なら自力で高い品質の物を作ることができなければ，日々使うものは海外から輸入する必要があります。
ここでいう「使うもの」とは「知恵」と言い換えることもできます。
知恵を輸入するとは，理解の浅い他国の言語を輸入するということです。何故ならその知恵は他国の言語で表現されているからです
でも知恵を輸入すれば自分で考えたり作ったりする必要はありません。楽ですね。
であれば，世界で一番発展しているアメリカの「知恵」を輸入すれば一番楽に発展することができると思いませんか？
It's because we need to import daily items from abroad if we can not produce quality goods by ourselves.
" What we use " here can be also rephrased to " Wisdom."
Importing wisdom means importing other languages that are superficial understanding. It's because of that wisdom is expressed in other languages.
However, you don't have to think or create your own words by importing wisdom. It's easy, isn't' it?
Therefore, don't you agree that importing " Wisdom " from America, the most developed in the world is the easiest way?
でもその英語の知恵を輸入しなかった日本が経済発展を成し遂げられたのは何故でしょう
私はその理由の1つに言語があると考えています。言語と文化，経済発展は非常に密接に関係しています
私達は物事を考える時にどうやって考えるでしょうか
きっとあなたの母国語が頭に浮かびながら考えていると思います
その母国語は「思考の言語」と言い換えることができるかもしれません
その「思考の言語」があまりよく知らない，つまりチープな状態のものだったら，そこから導き出される答えも同様にチープなものだと思いませんか？
However, why Japan as a country which didn't import the English Knowledge could accomplish economic development?
I believe one of the reasons why is the language. Language, culture, and economic development are inseparably related.
When we think about things, how do you think?
I bet you are thinking and forming a picture in your native language.
The native language also might be mentioned as "Thinking Language".
Don't you think if the "Thinking Language" is something you don't know very well, in another word, being cheap status, the answer will become cheap as well?
言葉は伝達する手段である前に，あなたを思考を整理し，新たな思考を生み出すものです
私は日本語は世界で一番ポテンシャルを秘めた性能が高い言語だと思っています
日本人が優れた製品を作ることができたのもこの言語のおかげだと思っていますし
文化的に興味深い芸術作品が生まれたのもこの言語の影響が大きいと考えています
だから英語の知恵がなくても経済発展ができ，しかも他に類を見ないような物を作ることができたと考えています。
でも日本語が優秀で英語やその他の言語が劣っていると言いたいわけではありません
Before you use a method to convey your words, organise your thoughts which will give rise to a new train of thoughts
I think that the Japanese language is the No.1 language with the highest hidden potential and functionality in the world
I feel that the reason why the Japanese are able to make excellent products is thanks to its language.
This language has a huge impact on how interesting artistic works are born from culture
As such, even without the wisdom of English, Japan was able to develop its economy and make things which others had not seen.
However, I am not saying that Japanese is excellent while other languages like English are inferior.
私が皆さんに言いたいことは，日本は「思考の言語」を大事にしたから経済発展できたということです
普段あまり言語の大切さを感じることは少ないかもしれません
もしあなたに時間があれば，その時間を「思考の言語」を豊かにする，つまり言葉を増やすために使ってあげて下さい
操れる言葉が増えることは，あなたの世界を何倍にも豊かにしてくれます
私は言葉をコンピュータに理解させるという仕事ができていることに誇りを感じています
いつかこの仕事を通じて言葉の素晴らしさを世界中の人々に知ってもらえたら嬉しいです
What I want to say to everybody is that Japan came by its economic development because it regarded "the language for thought" important.
You may usually rarely feel the importance of the languages much.
Please spend the time you can spare to enrich "the language for thought" or to increase your words.
It enrichs your world several times more if the words you can handle increase.
I feel a pride in that I can work to let the computer understand the words.
I am glad if I can have people of the world know the splendor of the words through this work sometime.
