The both edges of Japanese facecloth are just cut out and left unprocessed. As they are not sewn, it dries quickly, and it is hygienic because the face cloth does not hold the dirt and the dust. It is suitable in the hot and humid climate in Japan. And since the Japanese facecloth does not have the stitching, it is easy for you to tie them or to cut it out and use them.
The both edges of a brand new facecloth come apart in the beginning of use, but it gets stable after you wash the facecloth several times and the facecloth will not get ragged any more after the fray of the both edges become about 1cm from the edges. If you find the fray after washing, please just cut off the fraying the thread with scissors and use the facecloth.
