Dear Valued Client, We would like to inform you of changes that we have made to our Cyprus branch Banking General Conditions and e-Banking Special Conditions. We have made these changes as part of a general review of our terms and conditions and to set out for the benefit of our customers the changes resulting from the Payment Services Law of 2009 (the “Law”) which came into force on 27 November 2009. The Law incorporates provisions of the European Union Directive 2007/64/EC on payment services into Cyprus law. We have already taken steps to give effect to those provisions of the Law that require changes to the services we provide.
The Law applies to the following services provided by the Bank: -Deposits and withdrawals; -Execution of credit transfers; -Execution of standing orders, and where available, direct debits.
The Law does not apply to loan accounts, fixed term deposit accounts and notice accounts where more than 7 days notice is required for withdrawals.
The Law introduces changes in a number of areas, particularly with regard to consumers and small enterprises, including terms and conditions relating to: -execution times, correct authorisation, receipt of payment instructions, and revocation of payment instructions; -value dating for transactions; information that the bank must provide to customers; -changes and termination to the contract with a customer; -rectification of mistakes and liability for unauthorised transactions.
