The fingerprint recognition chip is designed by AhthenTec, of which Apple acquired for US$356 million in July 2012. For the fourth quarter of 2013, total shipments of iPhones, including iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and the speculated iPhone 5S, are likely to reach 30 million units, the sources estimated.
