Amid Reports it Has Bought Baseball Team, DeNA Confirms Talks But Says ‘Nothing Decided’
There are a number recent reports today (see here and here) that Japanese mobile social gaming company DeNA (TYO:2432) is close to purchasing pro-baseball team, the Yokohama Bay Stars.
Asiajin had a short write-up on it in English, in which it cites ex-Yomiuri Giants owner as saying “There are no other buyers. (Only DeNA) remained from multiple candidates.”
We reached out to DeNA again for comment on these reports this morning. We were directed to a short statement (Japanese) and were told “it is true that we’ve been in talks with a baseball team but nothing has been decided.”
Perhaps this potential purchase explains why the company didn’t splurge on an extravagant GREE-like display at the recent Tokyo Game Show 2011. Check out the pictures below for a comparison of the two company’s booths from that event.*
