Executive Deputy Manager Dong Changzheng of Toyota Motor Investment, the Toyota’s managing company for China business, on 24th had talk with media companies and told that they were “not at all worried” about increasing its production capacity in China.

Currently China has a surplus of automobile manufacturing capacity based on the industry’s trend, and the government has been taking a cautious stance in approving new joint projects. Toyota produces its products at two joint companies, Tianjin Faw Toyota and GAC Toyota, and the current total combining production capacity is 820,000 vehicles.

Toshiba to Draw Master Plan for Smart Community in Ishimaki

Toshiba, Ishihara City and Tohoku Electric Power announced that their proposed plan to build a smart community in Ishimaki has been selected for the Project of Promoting Introduction of Smart Communities for FY2011 which the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) invited applications from the public in February this year.

This government's project is a scheme, as a disaster-resistant town planning for regions in a recovering phase, to build smart communities mainly by utilizing renewable energy.

採択されれば上限2500万円の補助金の受給と、策定計画に基づくスマートコミュニティ構築費用の3分の2の補助を受けられる。

今回採択されたのは、事業計画策定への支援。9月までに、石巻市の「エコ・セーフティタウン構想」に基づき、地域のエネルギー管理を行うEMS（エネルギーマネジメントシステム）の開発や、太陽光発電システム、蓄電池の設置などにより、災害時にも電気が使える「安全・安心で環境にやさしいまち」の実現を目指した、スマートコミュニティ構築に関する計画を策定する。

Selected applicants will receive a maximum 25 million yen subsidy and another subsidy that equals to two-third of the cost to build their smart community based on their plan.

The one selected this time is a support to create a master plan for a smart community in Ishimaki. The master plan will be drawn up by September based on the city’s “Eco-Safe Town Plan.” It will aim to realize a “safe, secure and eco-friendly town” in where electricity will be available even when a disaster occurs, by developing a regional EMS (Energy Management System) and also by installing solar power systems and storage batteries.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation on April 5th unveiled its design concept model of FUSO-Concept II with an eye on the comercial vehicles market in 2032. The concept model is designed with the presumption that it will be running on Asian Highway AH1, which will connect Tokyo and Istanbul in 2032.

FUSO-Concept II is a concept model for heavy-duty truck eyeing on the commercial vehicles market in 2032, which falls on the 100th year anniversary of the Fuso brand.

Toyota Starts Exporting India-made Cars, Aiming Annual Export of 20,000 Vehicles to South Africa

Toyota Motors started exporting its Etios series which the company produces in India, to South Africa on April 4. Toyota regards emerging countries as important markets and aims to develop its Indian quarters to a production and supply base for completed cars and transmissions with the start of export of its completed vehicles.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Ltd. (TKM), Toyota’s subsidiary for production and sales in India, on 4th (local time) held a commemorative ceremony at Ennore Port in suburban Chennai of India.

式典には、インド・カルナタカ州内務・運輸省アショカ大臣、同州重工業省ニラニ大臣ほかの来賓を迎え、TKMのビクラム・キルロスカ副会長、中川宏社長ら約200名が出席、輸出港となるエンノール港で輸出1号車が船積みされ、TKM初の輸出開始を祝った。

TKM中川社長は「輸出開始という新たなフェーズに入った。今日は、トヨタにとって、記念すべき日となる」と語った。

輸出台数は年間2万台を予定している。

The ceremony was attended by some 200 people, including Mr. Ashoka, Honorable Minister for Home and Transport of Govt. of Karnataka, Mr. Nirani, Honorable Minister of Industries of Govt. of Karnataka, TKM’s Managing Director Hiroshi Nakagawa and TKM’s vice chairman Vikram Kirloskar. The attendees watched the very first car being loaded at Ennore Port, from which their competed cars are exported, and celebrated the first export by TKM.

Mr. Nakagawa said at the ceremony, “We are now in the new phase, a start of exporting. Today is a day to commemorate for Toyota.”

The company aims to export 20,000 vehicles per year.

『新車販売台数、2年ぶりに300万台…2011年度』

日本自動車販売協会連合会が発表した2011年度（2011年4月～12年3月）の新車登録台数（軽除く）は前年度比3.1％増の306万4336台となり、2年ぶりに300万台を上回った。

東日本大震災によるサプライチェーン寸断による影響で新車の生産・供給が滞り、年度前半は大幅に落ち込んだものの、部品調達の正常化で生産が急回復した。加えてエコカー補助金の復活で需要が急増、前年を上回った。

New Car Sales for FY2011 reaches 3 Mil., First Time in 2 Years

Japan’s vehicle registration for new cars (excluding mini-vehicles) rose 3.1 percent from the previous year to 3,064,336 units, surpassing a 3 million unit level for the first time in 2 years, according to the FY2011 (April 2011 - March 2012) statistics announced by the Japan Automobile Dealers Association.

Supply and production of new vehicles were slowed because of disrupted automobile supply chain caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, decreasing the new cars sale significantly in the first half of FY2011. However, as the procurement of components returned to normal, automobile production quickly recovered. The demand for new cars was also increased sharply by the government’s resumed subsidy program for ecologically-friendly cars, giving the sales a better result than the last year.

車種別では、乗用車が同2.2％増の273万2613台と2年ぶりに前年を上回った。このうち、普通乗用車は同2.8％増の131万1793台、小型乗用車が同1.8％増の142万0820台となった。

貨物車は同11.2％増の32万0596台で2年連続プラスとなった。うち、普通貨物車が同14.9％増の11万8570台、小型貨物車が同9.1％増の20万2026台となった。

バスは同2.9％減の1万1127台だった。

For the figures of each vehicle category, passenger cars increased 2.2 percent from the FY2010 to 2,732,613 units in total, exceeding the result of the previous year for the first time in 2 years. Of this number, 1,311,793 units were regular-size passenger cars and 1,420,820 units were small-size passenger cars, up 2.8 percent and 1.8 percent respectively.

Freight cars rose 11.2 percent to 320,596 units in total, a increase for the second consecutive years. Of this number, 118, 570 units were regular-size freight cars and 202,026 units were small-size freight cars, up 14.9 percent and 9.1 percent respectively.

Buses decreased 2.9 percent from the previous year to 11,127 units.
