月に刻まれている無数のクレーターを繊細に表現することがこの製品化プロジェクトのチャレンジです。ところで、月にはなぜあのような多数のクレーターが刻まれているのでしょうか。
そもそも地球に対してもたくさんの隕石が落ちてきています。地球は月よりも大きく重力も強いため、なおさらです。しかし、大気があるためそのほとんどは大気中で燃え尽きてしまうのです。
これに対して、月には空気がないので、毎日降りそそぐ隕石が月に激突し、それがクレーターとして何百年も残ることになるのです。

By the way, why are they so many craters on the moon?
In the first place,many meteorites fell also to the Earth. As the Earth is larger than moon and gravitational pull is stronger than moon, more meteorites fell down. However, most meteorites burn down, as atmosphere exists in the Earth.
On the other hand, there is no atmosphere in the moon, so meteorites fall down everyday to the moon crash dynamically on the surface and the traces are left as crater for hundreds of years.
