そもそも地球に対してもたくさんの隕石が落ちてきています。地球は月よりも大きく重力も強いため、なおさらです。しかし、大気があるためそのほとんどは大気中で燃え尽きてしまうのです。
これに対して、月には空気がないので、毎日降りそそぐ隕石が月に激突し、それがクレーターとして何百年も残ることになるのです。
