Pointer.co.id Helps to Make Life Easier for Indonesian Travel Agents

Indonesian ticket booking platform Pointer.co.id uses a B2B business model to help travel agents in the country book flights, rather than just help customers directly buy tickets. We recently had a chance to speak with Agus Ismail, the founder of Pointer regarding the startup’s progress and plans.

Pointer is still a one year-old business, and in that short time it has been used by more than 250 agents in various cities in the country. Agus says that Pointer sells more than 12,000 tickets every month and has an average daily transaction volume of 400 tickets. Pointer has partnered with 11 airlines, including Garuda Indonesia and Air Asia.

In the beginning, Agus found that there were a lot of problems booking flights, not only for customers, but also for the service providers themselves. He also saw a promising market in the Indonesian travel industry as more and more people now want to open their own travel agencies. These two observations prompted Agus to develop Pointer. He adds:

The startup doesn’t have any external investors, as it is purely funded by family and friends. One of his biggest priorities is to further facilitate travel agents and help them accelerate their businesses. At the end of this year, Agus hopes to add train tickets and hotel bookings on Pointer.
