It surprised me a little that the designed housing, or the way the construction manifested itself was similar. Although I found the way those mini-village were built to be likable, there were also points where my way of thinking differed.
The biggest difference with their designed housing, is the fact that our project takes into context the region - the houses are built with the intention to combine both the new residential areas and the farm fields, and won't cause the view from the rooftop to be solely the ground and the sky.
Besides that, the rooftops of the houses we designed aren't places surrounded by walls, but are more open. We're not trying to produce a new mini-village in the center of Rotterdam...

We are a little surprise to find out the similarity in the architecture of design of the houses designed by them. We think that this "mini-village" is nice but there are some points that are different in the concept.
The biggest difference between the houses designed by them and our project is that we build by integrating the local culture together with the new residents and fields, we are not adding a paradise at the roof.
Moreover, the roof of the houses that we have designed are not surrounded by any wall, with no closed space and are more open.
We are not only going to create a new "mini-village" in the city of Rotterdam

We're not trying to produce a new mini-village in the center of Rotterdam, the difference in our plan is that we want to attempt to build a new village, by including other houses, in a location that was formerly country-side. But I think the difference between the West and Japan regarding our feelings about privacy is starting to become clear.
Talking about differences in feelings of privacy, in contrast to D.V.which cabins each have private rooms, our project has 3 cabins. One doesn't have an interior, another has a communal use bathroom for the family, and another has a guest room. I think it's quite different from the Japanese houses where private rooms aren't as important.

Our design is different in trying to create a new village where the fields were, together with other residents. We think that this is due to the difference in the feeling for the privacy between the west and Japan.
Regarding the feeling for the privacy, opposite to "D.V." with all the huts as a private space, in the 3 huts of our project, one is an entire open space, second one is designed as a public family bathroom and the third one is the room for guests. We think that this is the difference with a typical feature of the Japanese house which do not care much about private space.
