We are always interested to know how much money they can collect but is it not open to the public. Usually during the 3 new year holiday, there are 3.17 million people visiting only Meiji Shrine. As I heard that average offertory amount is about Yen 150, so 3.17 million x Yen 150 = 475.5 million yen! Wonderful!

I am quite curious how much offertory they end up collecting, but they do not really reveal the actual amount. Some 3.17 million people visit Meiji Shrine just during the first three days of the New Years, which means assuming that the average offertory a person gives away at their New Years visit is around 150yen, so 3.17 million people x 150yen = 475.5 million yen! Incredible!
