But I cannot make shipment of the item as a "gift" by any means.

As far as I have confirmed, making payment by using your friend's credit card has some issue from the eBay system perspectibe.
So I will cancel the item you bought tentatively.
Can you please make payment $275 (including the shipping fee) to my PayPal account?
Once I conform the receipt of the money, I will ship the item to you.
