日本に住んでいた時、日本の最南端にある島の一つである西表島というところで3ヶ月働いていた時のお話し。当時東京で働いていたのだが、単に時給で働いていることを無駄と感じ、同じ1時間をもっと有意義のあることをしたいと思い、その当時行ってみたかった場所の一つである沖縄へ行った。特に何も考えず沖縄へ船で行き、現地の人に話しを聞いて様々な島にあるホテルやコテージで働きながら暮らせることを知った。若かった私は何の計画性もないまま沖縄へ行ったことで、当日のホテルも予約しないまま行った。

This is a topic when I was working in Iriomote island, which is one of the southernmost islands, for three months. At that time I was working in Tokyo, but I felt it is useless to work hourly. I just wanted to spend the same one hour on more meaningful things. Then I went to Okinawa, which is one of the places that I wanted to visit at that time. I simply went to Okinawa by ship without any consideration in advance. Then, I was informed from local people that I could live there by working for hotels and cottages on various islands. This story is about my 3 months work experience in Iriomote island, one of the islands which is located at the Japan's south end, when I lived in Japan. At the time, I lived in Tokyo, I had a feeling that working just for hourly fees was a waste of my talent, and I thought there were more meaningful way to spend the same an hour, then I went to Okinawa that one of the places I had longed to go at the time. I had no specific plan when I arrived at Okinawa by a ship, I could know there were opportunities to work staying hotels or cottages on the various islands from local people. Being youth, I went to Okinawa without no specific plan, so I didn't reserve the hotel room for the day.

Though at that time I was working in Tokio, feeling that it was pointless to work just for that hourly wage, I thought that I wanted to do something more worthwhile on that same hour and so I went to one of the places I wanted to go back then, Okinawa. Without any particular thought in mind, I took a boat to Okinawa and decided to live by working at hotels and cottages and hear the stories of the locals. That young me, without any planning whatsoever, went to Okinawa without even making a reserve on a hotel for the day.
