その佇まいは非常に色鮮やかな美しいものです。
社伝によれば、ここの発祥は1900年も前だと伝えられています。

111年、天皇の皇子であるヤマトタケルノミコトの東征の際、道中でものすごい山火事に襲われて脱出できなくなってしまいます。
しかし、突然二匹の犬が現れ、猛火に飛び込むとたちまち火を消して山頂まで案内したのち姿を消したそうです。ミコトはこの犬を神の使いだと信じ、この山を「ホドヤマ」(火を止める山の意)と名付け神を祀りました。

In 111 year, during conquestions of Emperor Yamato Takeru mikoto was being attacked by a ferocious wildfire along the way, so that could not be able to escape.
However, two dogs suddenly appeared, jumped into inferno and put out the fire, then guided to the head of mountain and disappeared after that. Mikoto believed this dogs to be a messengers of God, so this mountain named "Hodoyama" (meaning mountain that stopped the fire) and God worship was began

Hodoyama Shrine is located in Nagase-cho in Saitama Prefecture. The building is very beautiful and gorgeous. According to the history book of this shrine, this shrine has been there since 1,900 years ago.

In 111 A.D., when Yamatotakerunomikoto, the son of the Emperor was going to the East, the bush fire was occured on his way and he couldn't escape from it.
But suddenly the two dogs appeared in front of him. They dived into the fire then extinguished the fire. After that they led Yamatotakerunomikoto to the top of the mountain then dissapeared. He believed that the two dogs are emissaries of the God so he named the mountain as "Hodoyama"; means a mountain which stops the fire. And he built a shrine for the God.
