Edited to add: You may be someone unlike me who can drag and drop much easier. You may also be someone who needs to pluck more. THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG WAY TO ROOT. As long as your finished product looks natural, not pluggy, and lays nicely against the scalp, you’ve succeeded. You can do it!

Just a reminder too, always make sure you’re selecting premium quality mohair. Rooting from the base of the hair follicle and not the end of the hair. Check for its direction. If you’ve bought from Delta Dawn, she now marks the hair for cut end. Root from the cut end. And if you end up with broken bits, don’t fret, this happens. Pluck out the broken bits. Or root more from the ends of the hair not center.

Welcome to a refresher module on vinyl bases and when I’d do warming and neutralizing depending on the kit’s base shade. I hope this helps some of you who are still struggling to know when to neutralize or when to warm and how to go about it. Again, don’t be afraid to experiment. The shades I used were chosen for the effect I wanted. I also did multiple layers of Sap green on Knox, and a brightening yellow layer on two kits as well because the neutralizing still needed a bit more pop of yellow
I’ve also included the neutralizing chart from the first module because it’s still what I use when neutralizing and reference it often. You can also use any color wheel as well.

This module is another way you can do lip blisters when you’re feeling ready to experiment and play with 3D mediums. I am using Genesis Lip Extender medium, I bought mine here: and a hint of blue (this helps negate the yellow undertones of the medium). I apply and shape kind of like clay so I recommend a firmer round brush to apply, and to have your vinyl knife handy. Go sparingly to start and build up layers if you’re looking for a thicker look. I also did a version of this medium to create tear ducts in an open eye baby. I recommend mixing the medium with a bit of crimson to give that hint of pink in the eye corners. This is definitely an advanced technique so please feel free to skip this technique –

it’s very individualistic and may not apply to your sculpt you’re working on.
Also, I recommend doing this before you do any other lip shades, or after you’ve done your first sort of outline of the lip, this way the base vinyl colour is directly beneath the medium. So at the point where you’d normally start lip work 😉

This module is one highly requested on how to properly strip your reborn doll kit (should you need to). I can’t stress this enough, we all have moments where we need to strip a kit. I don’t recommend relying on this method as you will be effectively starting from scratch. BUT if necessary it’s a great way to press reset if you experience a colossal mess up at any point during the reborn process. AND It happens. I’ve stripped a handful of kits over the years. Sometimes I got nearly to the end and realized they just didn’t suit the skin tone and had to go back.

While there is nothing wrong with having to strip your kit, there IS a right way to strip it and here it is: ONLY use Windsor and Newton brush cleaner.
