The next morning before sunrise, while the surrounding volcanoes were still veiled in a rosy mist, I shared a ride with other tourists to the Parc National des Volcans. The park was the base for Dian Fossey, who studied the primates here in the Virunga mountain range for two decades, as recounted in her biography "Gorillas in the mist".

At the entrance, we were divided into small groups of 8 people and assigned guides. Each guide is in touch by walkie-talkie with trackers on the slopes of the volcano, to guide the visitors towards the few groups of gorillas who have been habituated to human presence. We set off along pastures and fields, then into the thick rainforest.

في الصباح التالي قبل شروق الشمس بينما البراكين المحيطة لاتزال غارقة في الضباب الوردي.استقليت توصيلة مع سياح اخرين الي حديقة البراكين الوطنية.الحديقة كانت قاعدة ل(ديان فوسي) التي درست القرود هنا في جبل فيرونجا لعقدين من الزمان.كما ذكرت سيرتها الذاتية (غوريلات في الضباب).
في المدخل تم تقسيمنا لمجموعات صغيرةمن 8 اشخاص وتم توزيع المرشدين علينا.كل مرشد كان علي اتصال بالمتعقبين علي منحدرات الجبل.ليرشد الزوار الي المجموعات القليلة من الغوريلات التي تعودت علي وجود الانسان.انطلقنا خلال المراعي والحقول ثم الي غابة مطيرة.

We trudged up muddy paths. We clawed our way through thickets of bamboo.
We clambered over fallen trunks. We sweated. At last, after hiking more than two hours, we reached a ridge. Ahead of us lay the crater of the dormant volcano, covered in thick, lush vegetation.

"The gorillas are down there," said the guide, pointing to what looked like impenetrable green. Working our way down, we came across the trackers. The family of a dozen individuals that they had been following was just a little further on, so it was time to prepare for our encounter. Drop our rucksacks here. Take nothing but cameras, flash off. No pointing. No shouting. No touching the animals. And our hushed group marched ahead excitedly.

تسلقنا الاشجار الساقطة.تعرقناوفي النهاية بعد مشي اكثر من ساعتين وصلنا الي حافة جبل.
امامنا كانت تقع فوهة بركان دورمانت مغطاة بالنباتات المورقة.
قال المرشد"الغوريلات في الاسفل هناك" واشار الي مايشبه مساحة خضراء لايمكن اختراقها.في طريقنا للاسفل تقاطعنا مع المتعقبين.والعائلة المكونة من دستة من الغوريلات الذين يتم تعقبهم كانوا ابعد بقليل عنا لذا جاء وقت الاستعداد للقاء.تركنا حقائبنا هنا ولم نأخذ معنا سوي الكاميرات واطفأنا الفلاش لا اشارات لاصياح ولا لمس للحيوانات .

Although the primates live in protected national parks, the Rwanda tourist office organises some restricted gorilla-tracking visits. I simply could not pass up such an opportunity! Even though the fee is hefty ($250 plus another $25 to enter the park), it is the price to pay for ecotourism, since the revenue goes towards conservation efforts and local community projects.

As soon as possible, I headed north from Kigali, the capital, on the "Virunga express", a service of Toyota mini-vans commonly used as public transport.

The only white person in the van, squeezed in between way more passengers than the van was conceived for, I spent the three-hour long ride admiring the view.

Known as the "land of thousand hills", Rwanda is a country of understated beauty. Even the steepest hills are terraced, with tiny plots quilting the reddish-brown earth. Shimmering eucalyptus trees line the roads. Finally we reached the small town of Ruhengeri, above which loomed the huge mass of the Karisimbi volcano, turning blue in the late afternoon light.

The Canadian Tulip Festival began in 1953, several years after Princess Juliana of the Netherlands gave Ottawa 100,000 tulip bulbs to show appreciation for the city’s harboring of Holland’s exiled royal family during World War II. The eighteen day extravaganza each May has become the largest Tulip festival in the world, hosting hundreds of thousands of tourists viewing millions of tulips spread throughout the city. Many of the events are free, or can be accessed with an inexpensive pass including transportation between the venues on the “Tulip shuttle”.

بدأ مهرجان الخزامي الكندي في عام 1953 بعد عدة سنوات من اعطاء اميرة هولندا جوليانا 100000 مصباح خزامي لمدينة اوتاوا تعبيرا منها عن تقديرها للمدينة الاسرة الملكية بعد نفيها اثناء الحرب العالمية الثانية لقد اصبحت هذه الايام الثمانية عشر الرائعة من شهر مايو اكبر مهرجان للخزامي في العالم والذي يستضيف مئات الالاف من السياح لرؤية الملايين من الخزامي المنتشرة في انحاء المدينة.الكثير من احداث المهرجان مجانية او بسعر ضئيل متضمنة التنقل بين الاماكن بكوك الخزامي.

The market in center of Stanley, on the south side of Hong Kong Island, is just one of many reasons to visit this little seaside village. The call Stanley the "market for beginners" because there’s less haggling, it is a little less aggressive and perhaps a bit more pleasant for those feeling intimidated by the overwhelming atmosphere in Kowloon. That’s not to say you can’t get a deal, but this really is for the tourists. The good thing is their choice of souvenir shopping is bar none, so if you want something to take home, it isn’t a bad idea to look here first. Sheung Wan is probably my favorite neighborhood in Hong Kong; it has that rich, urban feel that reminds me of other world capitals like New York. It’s probably the most Chinese of all the areas on the island; a walk along the zig-zag of alleyways and streets makes that perfectly clear in no time. On Cat Street there is an "antiques" market which is kind of fun to check out; here you’ll find things like old parchment scrolls, lucky coins, and miniature statues as far as the eye can see. These are not relics from centuries gone by, though – they’re (almost) all recent reproductions made in mainland China.

The general story is familiar, perhaps even predictable, to anyone who has ever read about child stars, but seldom has it been told with such intimacy and immediacy. Few people can ever have reflected on the fate of child stars as thoroughly as Cary, or had as much reason to do so, and her unique insight gives the film a vibrancy few documentaries about silent cinema can match. There is no one else alive able to articulate the experiences she discusses.
To her, Baby Peggy is another human being, a role she performed, to be spoken about in the third person. This is unsurprising, given the gulf between the infant who was onscreen in the 1920s and the elderly woman who looks back at her from the 21st Century.

But what is surprising is that she thought of Baby Peggy as a separate person even when she was a child. Châteaux dans les Arbes, France: The fairytale one
As if a secluded hideaway in the trees wasn’t enough of a childhood dream come true, at Châteaux dans les Arbes in the Dordogne, the leafy abodes are also miniature castles. Housed around the former moat of a ruined stronghold, the three creations are the handiwork of veteran treehouse-builder Rémi, who modelled them on (and named them after) nearby châteaux.

Taking up exercise in your 60s will still help stave off major ill health and dementia, research suggests.

The study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine followed 3,500 healthy people at or around retirement age.

Those who took up exercise were three times more likely to remain healthy over the next eight years than their sedentary peers.

Exercise cut the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease and depression.

People who took up exercise in their 60s were also less likely to struggle with day-to-day activities such as washing and dressing.


After eight years of follow-up, a fifth of the participants were defined as healthy - not suffering from any major chronic mental or physical illness.

The V&A was given three Constable easel paintings, 92 oil sketches, 297 drawings and watercolours and three sketchbooks in 1888 by the artist's daughter, which all form part of the museum's permanent collection.

They were aware of an additional sketch when the main painting was X-rayed, but assumed it had subsequently been painted over by the British landscape master.

The additional sketch, showing a preliminary view of a sky and several trees, was discovered when the lining became loose and was removed.

Experts believe Constable made the sketch in Hampstead, London, on a canvas that was probably pinned to his paintbox for support.

Most of the horror-woman’s films do not end in marriage or heterosexual fulfillment of any kind, and this maneuver is not a function exclusively of age. معظم افلام الرعب النسائية لا تنتهي بالزواج او الوفاء للجنس الاخر من اي نوع وهذا الدهاء ليس محصورا علي العمر فقطفعلي سبيل المثال في فيلم (دايد رينجير) عام 1964 والذي تم اخراجه بواسطة دايفيس يظهر البطلة بول هينيريد متورطة في علاقة رومانسية في حياتها الخاصة ثم علاقة اخري عندما عندما تنتحل شخصية اختها التوأم الثرية بعدما قتلتها ،الفيلم يصور فشل الرابطة الاخوية بين الاختين بينما يتحاشي الرومانسية مع الجنس الاخر كعلاج لهذا الفشل.
