ホンダの山本芳春取締役常務執行役員(本田技術研究所社長)は27日、埼玉県庁内で会見し、同県庁に設置した「ソーラー水素ステーション」について「コストなど課題は多いが、将来は家庭での普及をめざしたい」と語った。

埼玉県やホンダは同日、環境省の委託によるソーラー水素ステーションの実証実験を開始した。水素ステーションは岩谷産業と共同で開発したもので、国内初となる「差圧式高圧水電解システム」を採用した水素製造装置を導入している。

このシステムはホンダの独自技術によるもので、 2010年から米国の研究開発拠点でも同様の実験を行っている。水を電気分解して水素を得る際、水素が高圧となるよう制御する。従来必要だったコンプレッサーが不要となり、コンパクトで騒音も少ないステーションができるため、ホンダは将来、家庭への展開も不可能ではないと見ている。

実験を始めたステーションは太陽光発電と購入電力を併用して電気分解に使っている。山本常務は「実証実験によりクルマに供給する機能や耐久性、今後の開発での課題など、さまざまな点を確認したい」と話した。

Chief Managing Director Yamamoto said, "we would like to check various aspects by actual proof experiment, such as issues in the function to be supplied to a car and its durability, issues in the future development, among others."
