「お盆」が仏教と関係があるのか、正直よくわかってません。
正確な由来は知らないのですが、8月13日から16日の間に、故人の霊が帰ってくるという風習になっています。
今年は、妻の父が亡くなったので、いわゆる初盆と言い、近所の人たちが入れ替わり立ち替わり、線香を上げに来てくれます。
その対応の為に、仕事は夏期休暇を取得しました。
あなたの国でも夏の風習が何かありますか？
重ねて、日本は8月15日が終戦記念日なので、正午には黙祷をし、テレビでは戦争に関する特番が放送されます。

I am not really sure if "Bon" is related to Buddhism.
I don't know its exact origin, but it is a custom to be said that the spirits of the deceased come back between August 13 and 16.
For me, this year is Hatsu-bon (First Bon) because my father-in-law (my wife's father) passed away, and one after another of our neighbors come to my house to offer incense sticks for our family Buddhist altar. For this reason, I took my summer vacation.
Is there any summer custom in your country too?
Also, August 15 is the anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II, and so we observe a moment of silence at noon and Japanese TV media put special programs about the war on the air.

The accurate origin is not known, but the custom is that the soul of the deceased comes back from August 13th to 16th.
As the father of my wife passed away this year, my neighborhood comes to my house one after another in order to pray for his soul, offering an incense stick, which is so called Hatsu-Bon.
I actually took my summer holidays in order to cope with them.
