「お盆」が仏教と関係があるのか、正直よくわかってません。
正確な由来は知らないのですが、8月13日から16日の間に、故人の霊が帰ってくるという風習になっています。
今年は、妻の父が亡くなったので、いわゆる初盆と言い、近所の人たちが入れ替わり立ち替わり、線香を上げに来てくれます。
その対応の為に、仕事は夏期休暇を取得しました。
あなたの国でも夏の風習が何かありますか？
重ねて、日本は8月15日が終戦記念日なので、正午には黙祷をし、テレビでは戦争に関する特番が放送されます。

I don't honestly know whether Obon has any connection to Buddhism.
I don't know the exact origin, but between August 13th and 16th, the custom is that the souls of the deceased return.
