昨日、山田さんから、彼が早期退職することを聞きました。私は、少なくとも新しい社長が決まる迄は、全面的にＩＢＭのビジネスに関与し、最善の努力をする積りです。
また、ＮＥＣの鈴木社長の後任が、本日発表されました。新しい社長候補は田中さんといい、私の一年後輩の古い友人です。私は、鈴木さん以上に田中さんと強い信頼関係を築くことが出来ます。
一方で、ＮＥＣ関係者から、最近、ＳＡＰがＮＥＣに対して積極的にアプローチをして来ていると連絡がありました。

I heard from Mr. Yamada that he will take early retirement. I, at least, am going to do my best to fully contribute to IBM business until a new president is decided.
Also, the replacement with the president Mr. Suzuki of NEC Corporation was announced today. A new successor is Mr. Tanaka, who is one of my old friends younger than I by one year. So, I think I can establish stronger relationship with Mr. Tanaka than Mr, Suzuki.
While, I received a message that SAP is recently approaching NEC aggressively from concerned people in NEC.

I heard from Mr. Yamada yesterday that he will retire early. I plan to stay involved in overall business of IBM and put my fullest effort at least until new president is assigned.
Also, successor of NEC's president Mr. Suzuki has been announced today. New candidate for the president is Mr. Tanak, who is a friend of mine and junior by one year. I will be able to build stronger trustworthy relationship with Mr. Tanaka than with Mr. Suzuki.

When Tom and Jerry visit Japan at the end of this month, I think it is necessary to explain to NEC as soon as possible that Mr. Yamada will resign. When Tom and Jerry come to Japan in the end of this month, I think we need to explain that Mr. Yamada is going to retire to NEC as soon as possible. At the same time. we need promise NEC again that the relationship between IBM and NEC remais the same, and that the trial and the project this time will go through on schedule. I will do my best to explain this to NEC one by one, and to get their understanding on these subjects.
