琵琶湖疏水の通船の復活は，明治の先人たちが築き上げた貴重な産業遺産である琵琶湖疏水が市民生活や産業・文化を支えてきた建設の意義を，改めて認識して いただくことや，大津市と京都市を繋ぐ新たな観光資源を創出することにより，琵琶湖疏水沿線の大津・山科・岡崎地域の更なる活性化の源となることに寄与す る事業です。
この度，平成27年春及び秋に引き続き，「琵琶湖疏水通船復活」平成28年春の試行事業を，下記のとおり実施しますので，お知らせします。
The restoration of activities in Lake Biwa Canal is a project to once again acknowledge the meaning of this industrial heritage canal built by the people of Meiji era, which contributed to the development of the city's culture, industry and civic life and to appreciate the fact that it has become the source of revival for the region along the canal such as Otsu, Yamashina, Okazaki from the idea of connecting Otsu and Kyoto to make it a new destination for tourism.
Followed by the spring and fall of 2015, this spring of 2016, we would like to announce the trial project which will be carried out as metioned below.
1 事業趣旨
平成28年春の試行事業は，旅行会社等によるグレードの高い通船を核とした企画を実施するとともに，通船事業の本格的な実施に向けた課題の早期解決や様々な可能性の追求を行うものです。
2 事業概要
⑴ 内容
株式会社ジェイアール東海ツアーズ，株式会社JTB国内旅行企画及び京阪バス株式会社の3社が，琵琶湖疏水の通船を組み込んだツアーの企画を実施する。
⑵実施期間
平成28年4月2日（土曜日）～5日（火曜日），7日（木曜日），8日（金曜日）
1. Aim of the business
The trial of our business during Spring of year 2016 is to carry out our plan that focuses on high grade ferry ships for traveling agencies etc as well as to persue solving issues that would prevent implementing our plan in wide range of business so that we will expand our business possibility.
2. Summary of our business
(1) Plan
Three companies namely JR Tokai Tours Inc, JTB Domestic Tour Planning Inc and Keihan Bus Inc will plan up tours incorporating usage of ferry ships at Biwako.
(2) Timing
Saturday April 2, 2016 to Tuesday April 5, Thursday April 7, and Friday April 8.

Apart from the business conducted as a trial as product used for travel service, we are going to accept opinion and suggestion to improve attractiveness as a resource of sightseeing and activate the area along the canal of Lake Biwa for carrying out seriously by providing an opportunity where the travel company boards the ship.
