70.1% of Japanese young people want to contribute to their society. The rate of the young people who had engaged in any volunteer activity in the last year remained as low as 20%.
It is companies who should more actively play a role in developing activities serving their society. Obviously, those who belong to a company should partake in such activities but the company may also use the opportunities to offer chances of getting jobs for university students as an internship does, which will lead to more young people getting into volunteer activities. In this way, by preparing an environment where more young people can play his role, and by promoting mutual interaction among them, we can enhance their motivation for participating in volunteer activities.
