Slowly walking up the steps surrounded by green trees on the temple ground, we are now heading up to the Main Hall where the Buddha awaits us. You may find the Rhododendron trees on both sides of the steps. It is very picturesque anytime of the season not just when the flowers are blooming.

These steps are sometimes called ”Slope of the Armor" (Yoroi-saka) with its similarity to the shape of the armor of the warriors.

The Buddhas in the Main Hall.
At the top of the steps, you will find the Main Hall, the national treasure.

There lined up are the buddha statues.
Five at the back and Twelve Divine deities in front.
It is more like a museum than a temple.

Shaka Nyorai (Sakyamuni) stands at the very center.

Climbing up a flight of stone steps surrounded by fresh and rich green leave leads to the Golden pavilion which houses the principal objects.
The plants grow thickly at both sides of stone steps are rosebays.
Those rosebays make similar to pretty as a picture not only in full-blown season but also no flowers season.

I’ve heard of somebody is saying that this stone steps is called “Yoroizaka (Armor-clad steps)” because the steps’ horizontal pattern looks similar to the waistplate of armor-clad.

Principal images enshrined in the Golden Pavilion
A building seen when finishing climbing up the “Yoroizaka” is a National Treasure designated Golden Pavilion.

There are rows of Buddhist images in the pavilion.
There are five images at deep inside, and the twelve divine generals at the front.
Its atmosphere is not like a temple but a Buddhism meseum.

Image of Shalk-nyorai
There standing at the center is the image of Shaka-nyorai.

Slowly climbing the stone stairs in the precincts, we are headed for the golden hall where the Buddha statue is waiting.
Rhododendron flowers are growing the each side of the stairs.
Not only in the time of their blossoms, but also when they have no flowers, they decorate the place beautifully.
The stone stairs look like a slip-guard of the armor of samurai warrior, so it is called “armor hill”.
The Buddha statues in the golden hall
When you have climbed up the “armor hill”, you can see the golden hall. It is the National Treasure.
There are full of the Buddha statues in the golden hall.
5 statues are in the back and 12 divine generals are in the front.
The atmosphere is rather like a Buddha statue museum than the temple.

Shaka Nyorai
The center statue is the Shaka Nyorai.
