The United States ethanol production volume for 2011 was 13.949 billion gallons per year (105% increase from last year). However, the demand was 13.989 billion gallons per year (106% increase from last year). The basic ingredients of ethanol are sugars such as glucose, fructose, cane sugar, etc when using a fermentation production method and when using a synthetic method, they are ethylene and water. Ninety-five percent of the ethanol manufacturing process is done using the fermentation method and in the United States those ingredients come from corn, in Brazil from sugar cane, and in Europe from wheat.

Ethanol production in the United States in 2011 was 13.949 billion gallons (a 105% increase year-on-year). On the other hand, the ethanol demand was 13. 989 billion gallons (a 106% increase year-on-year). (See *) Raw materials for ethanol is glucose, fructose, sucrose or other sugars, if made using fermentation method, or water and ethylene, if made using synthetic method. Approximately 95% of ethanol production uses fermentation method, and for its raw material, corn is used in the United states, while sugar cane is used in Brazil and wheat in Europe.
