同メディアのインタビューに応じた富士重工グローバルマーケティング本部の安宅淳氏は、STIバージョンについて、最大出力は250psレベルへ引き上げ、エンジンの最大許容回転数も7500rpm付近まで高めることを示唆したというのだ。
ノーマルのBRZは最大出力200psだから、気になるのは、50psものパワーアップの手法。果たして、ターボ化はあり得るのか。
安宅氏は、エンジンルームにインタークーラーを追加するスペースがないことから、ターボ計画を否定。

The media was successful to interview Mr. Atsushi Ataka, from FHI Global Marketing Headquarters, and he hinted that a peak power of so-called STI version will achieve up to 250PS, and its maximum rotation speed would go up as much as 7500 rpm.
Already released basic grade BRZ would only sport 200PS, and we are very much interested in their method to add 50PS more. Would it have turbo-charged engine?
Mt. Ataka did not agree that it would have turbo-charger, while there is no extra room to add intercooler in its engine compartment.

According to the above mentioned media, Mr. Atsushi Ataka, who is in charge of the project at the HQ of Global Marketing Sec. in Fuji Heavy Industries, has alluded in the interview with them that the maximum output will be increased to the equivalent level of 250ps as well as the arrowable maximum speed, which is to be raised till around 7,500 rpm.
Considering the fact that BRZ has only the maxmum output of 200 ps normally, the concern is how they could power up the value by 50 ps. Would the turbo-charged version be feasible?
Mr. Ataka denies the possibility of turbo-charged version, indicating that there should be no more space for an additional intercooler in the engine room.
