現場ではひどい虐待を受けた子供たちに接することもあります。精神的に落ち込んで自殺を考える子たちは、身の安全のため病院に来てもらいます。しかし、子供やその両親が同意しない場合児童保護の手続きが必要となり、説得できない場合は強制的に入院してもらうこともあります。子供や両親が納得せず病院側を脅迫することもありました。私たちは子供たちや家族を救おうとしているのに、彼らを傷つけると思われてしまうのはとても辛いです。
一方、誰かを救うことができると感じられるとき、仕事のやりがいを感じます。

Some are mentally depressed and think about suicide; we have them come to the hospital to protect their own integrity. At the medical centre, I do come across children who have been severely abused. For their safety, the children who are depressed and thinking of committing suicide are summoned to the hospital. However, there is a need to go through the procedure to apply for child protection in the event of any disapproval by the children or even their parent, and in the event where they cannot be persuaded, hospitalisation is sometime mandatory. The unconvinced parent and children may also threaten the hospital. Though we would try to help the children and their family, it is painful to know that we were thought to be hurting them.

In the workplace, there are some occasions to take care children who had been abused badly. As for some children who are thinking of suicide as a medial depression, they are advised to come to take some treatments. However, provided that they or thier parents do not agree with it, there is the need to apply the child custody. If they are not convinced for it, the children are forced to stay at hospitals. I have an experience that the children or thier parents accused us. It is very hard for me to be seen as the one who hurts them, even though I am trying to help them.

There happens to meet children who have been seriously abused. We ask children who are deeply depressed and think about suicide to join us to the hospital to protect them. But, if a child himself or herself or their parents do not agree with our invitation, we need the child protection procedures, and when we cannot persuade them, we manage to force them to hospitalize. We have been sometimes threatened by children or parents who were not persuaded. Althoug we are trying to rescue them, they think that we will hurt them, this is very hard for us.
