As I sometimes make Western sweets but hardly make Japanese sweets, I made a reservation for an interesting experience.
It is kind of far from the center of Arashiyama, but it was a very superb store of the Japanese sweets.

On the day for which I made a reservation, there were college students from Taiwan who visited there for commemorating their graduation, and about 20 people were there.
As they did not know Japanese, I was wondering how he was going to teach, a man who makes the Japanese sweets came to them and taught them how to make. They were so happy and excited. As for me,

I rarely make Japanese confectionery even if I make western confectionery (occasionally).
So I made reservation because I wanted to have an interesting experience.
The site is a little far from the center of Arashiyama, but is was excellent Japanese-style confection store.
When I made reservation, Taiwanese college students in graduation trip are also there, and about 20 people attended.
They did not understand Japanese, so I wondered how to teach them.
But artisan of Japanese confectionery came near to teach how to cook.
Everyone seemed to enjoy with a giggle!
Regarding my side,

I think although we may have a chance (not so often though) to experience of cooking Western confectionery, we rarely have a chance to make Japanese traditional confectionery. I wanted to experience something interesting, and that is why I made a reservation here.

The place was a little bit far from the downtown of Arashiyama, but it definitely was amazing Japanese traditional confectionery store.
On the day of my reservation, there were also Taiwanese university students who visited Japan for school trip, and there were about 20 people.
I was wondering how the confectionery maker would teach them as they did not know Japanese. The confectionery maker came near me and taught me how to make Japanese confectionery. Everyone was very excited and seemed to be having fun. As for myself,

I am awkward at cooking but could make Japanese sweets almost satisfying.
We made 3 kinds of Jo-Namagashi, Ajisai (hydrangea), Nadeshiko (fringed pink frlower) and Tsuyunosato (dew-covered village) and Kizato, sweets like a clipping.
The world of Japanese confectionary is delicate, however, I made them well since they taught us carefully one by one. To make them with spatula or cloth was also a new experience for me.
After making sweets, we can eat them with Matcha tea at the place. The sweets we made by ourselves and Matcha. We can bring the rest of the sweets home.

Although I am rather clumsy, I was rather happy with the Japanese confectioneries I made.
I made 3 fresh ones (ajisai, nadeshiko, tsuyu no sato) and kizato (cut-out type confectionery).
I was able to make these delicate Japanese confectioneries with thorough step by step instruction.
It was a refreshing experience to make them with a spatula and a Japanese kitchen towel.
The fact that each process was slightly different made it more interesting.
After making the confectioneries, you are able to eat them with a cup of tea. Confectioneries you just made yourself and a cup of powder green tea. And you can take home the rest of the confectioneries.

I am a clumsy person, but I was able to make a relatively satisfying Japanese confectionery.
I made three fresh confectionery (hydrangea, fringed pink, and tsuyunosato (name of confectionery)) and Kizato (confectionery that looks like a clipping).
Wagashi is very delicate, but since the confectionery maker taught us one by one, person like me could make one. Using a spatula and clothes is also an interesting experience.
Furthermore, making method also differs a little for each type of confectionery, which was fun.
After making, you can taste the confectionery you made with green tea at the store. The confectionery you made and green tea. You can also bring back some other confectionery too.

I am clumsy but, I was satisfied so-so to cook Japanese sweet.
I cooked 3 kinds of traditional unbaked Japanese sweets ( ajisai, nadesiko, and tuyunosato) and togisato (it was like a cutting out sweet).
Japanese sweet is delicate but, they thought me thoroughly how to cook each one of sweets. And it was new experience for me to cook it by using spatula and towel.
I enjoyed to cook it with a little bit difference way for each one of them.
When you finished cooking, you could eat it with Japanese tea at the place. You could take away the sweets you cooked and Japanese tea, also other sweets too.

I am clumsy, but I was able and making sweets satisfactory comparatively.
Above moist cake three (hydrangea, pink, dew of the village) I made and the snobbish (the sweets, such as clippings).
It is a world of delicate sweets, but so you taught one by one carefully, I was able to make this I even. It was very fresh experience and also make using a spatula or dishcloth.
It was fun because a little each recipe also different each.
After you have finished making the sweets, you can eat on the spot with your green tea. Sweets and green tea made with myself. And other sweets I Mochikaereru.
