部品や道具の配置が悪いために生じる余分な動作や、作業中に必要な道具を探したり取りに行ったりするムダをいう。仕事がやりにくい原因となる。
不良により加工に要した時間が全くムダになり、生産を阻害してしまう。
不良品が工程内で発見できずに市場に出てしまった場合、不良製品のために失った客の信用は、金で買う事が出来ない。
